Before Death Stranding 2 hits the shelves, I finally fulfilled one of the most important wishes of my life: working with my idol Hideo Kojima on a shoot that brought us together to reinterpret a wide range of iconic Kojima memes through the language of fashion.

“The human heart seeks both life and death.” 
This phrase reveals the deep contradictions and complexities within us. It can be traced back to Sigmund Freud’s theory of Eros (the life instinct) and Thanatos (the death instinct), introduced in Beyond the Pleasure Principle. Freud believed that Eros represents the drive for creation, the preservation of life, and the pursuit of pleasure, while Thanatos points to an inherent urge toward destruction, a return to nothingness. It is in the tension and pull between these two instincts that human behavior and psychology find their delicate balance. This internal conflict forms the psychological foundation of Dreamcore art—it’s both a nostalgic yearning for the past and a fascination with loss and oblivion.

The world is once again in turmoil, and the shadow of war looms large. The choice to shoot this collection in Poland carries significant historical and psychological weight. As the starting point of a major war, Poland has long carried the echoes of conflict and recovery. Many of its cities were rebuilt in a straightforward, unembellished style, as if time itself had stalled. These surroundings evoke a sense of frozen memory, aligning with a visual language that reflects both a longing for the past and a quiet confrontation with loss.
