Wild Colour just opened at the @museumofnature and it’s definitely worth a visit. It dives into the hidden meanings of colour in nature from attraction to danger. Why are some creatures iridescent? Why are flowers colourful? How do birds and dogs see colour? And much more!

Next time I spot colours in the wild, I’ll definitely be thinking twice about what it’s trying to say 🦋🌻🐝 What colour would you be most excited to learn about?

Summer side quests pt. 2 🌸 An easy adventure to add onto your night 🍕

We stopped by @schoolhouseottawa for their delicious ny-style pizza and headed to the ornamental gardens! They’re the perfect scenic picnic view with all the beautiful blooms right now! The ornamental gardens and arboretum are the perfect place for a picnic! Pair it with some pizza from @littleitalyottawa and it’s the perfect night!

We also let the rush hour traffic die down with this side quest so win-win lol

I’m going to add my picnic blanket to my car for more impromptu nights like this 🌸

It should be opening very soon! Here’s everything you can’t miss when you visit:

☀️ RELAX - lounge in one of the red Adirondack chairs or enjoy the patio that wraps around the river house with panoramic views of the Ottawa river.

🍕 DINE - grab a bite from The Cafe & Bistro from sandwiches, pizza, ice cream, beer +

🛶 PADDLE - bring your own device or rent kayaks or SUPS on location through @escapetoursrentals

🚲 BIKE - there are beautiful bike paths leading to the river house. This would be a great stop for your journey :) If you start downtown and bike to the River House you can stop at the Rockcliffe Lookout on the way.

🌊 SWIM - cool off in the enclosed swim area with two 25-metre swim lanes. Capacity is 125 people and first come first serve. The water is tested but I opted not to swim here. Still lots of other activities to enjoy :) Swimming is open daily from 7:30am to sunset!

2. Tavern on the Island is one of Ottawa’s newest hotspots! Nestled on Bate Island, this patio offers breathtaking views of the Ottawa River and even a glimpse of Parliament in the distance. Indulge in a specialty burger and cocktail, unwind by a fire table, and enjoy games and comfy seating. There’s parking available, but a bike ride there would make for a fun adventure too.

3. Tavern on the Hill: Treat yourself to gourmet hot dogs and martinis while lounging in bean bag chairs under twinkle lights and a starry sky. The perfect recipe for a magical evening. 😍✨

4. Tavern at the Gallery: Hidden behind @natgallerycan, this patio feels like a secret garden. Savor wood-fired pizzas, charcuterie boards, and Baileys hot chocolate. As fall sets in, the surrounding leafy walls will turn a gorgeous red, adding to the charm.

Fun idea with friends ⬇️🕯️✨

This was such a fun class and Lu is so friendly and knowledgeable! We learned so much from her like:

-how long you should burn a candle the first time
-how important proportions are for candle safety
-what to look for when buying candles

And so much more! Lu walked us through the candle-making basics and we walked away with our perfect candle and a tote bag to bring it home in. It also includes some snacks and refreshments while you wait for your candles to dry!

You have the locations, what about WHEN to see the tulips? According to the NCC they’re at a 5/10 right now! Their experts plant a mix of early-, mid- and late-season varieties in every tulip bed so that we can see them longer. @cdntulipfest starts on May 8th and goes until May 18th. I’ll head out this weekend and share the status of the tulips :)

A little travel music video to show this slice of paradise 🏝️☀️

How did we do? 🎬

We just got back from our Honeymoon in Portugal and we can’t get over how beautiful it is 😍 One of our first stops was a road trip around Madeira that completely blew us away. From coastal views to mountain views and jurassic park in between. With the salt breeze and mountain air, you instantly feel at ease. Even the cloudy/rainy days were spectacular. I was sad to leave!

But then we continued on to the Algarve that has some of the most beautiful beaches and sunsets we’ve ever witnessed 🌊🐚 We threw this trip together pretty quickly and it turned out perfect! I would go back to in a heartbeat. Let me know if you want more details 🥰

We visited Lisbon too but were so tuckered out we forgot to film the music video haha more to come!

Fun Fact: we closed out our wedding with beauty and a beat so it seemed like the perfect fit. Half these clips are just Erik being Erik, always making me laugh ☺️

Japan is a country I would love to visit so until then I will transport myself through this restaurant! Here’s why you need to go:

🌸 This restaurant is beautifully decorated with blossoms, a bucket list sight in Japan. You’ll also find popular artwork and pop culture figures like Pokémon

🍣 Enjoy a menu full of Japanese specialties from ramen to sushi. We went with small plates to share. Make share to get the wasabi fire shrimp, kuidore fries, kaarage Japanese fried chicken, and salmon aburi sushi. They also have speciality drinks like ramune soda or crafted hitachino best beer from Japan.

📍 You need to visit @kuidaore.izakaya, 420 Preston St in @littleitalyottawa. I learned on their website that kuidaore means to “eat oneself bankrupt” and is an expression used to describe the people of Osaka’s obsession with food
