Introducing Group 4 from our Medical Procedural Workshop 1!

Director Ryan: “I joined the LADL workshop as a director, as I’m transitioning from editing to directing and was looking for a fast-paced, hands-on environment. The experience exceeded expectations. I loved directing a medical scene and appreciated the intense but well-structured schedule, with ample time for rehearsals and actor collaboration. It was incredibly rewarding to explore different character arcs with the cast and see all that prep come to life on set. While 75 minutes of shooting time felt tight, it taught me the importance of adapting quickly and keeping momentum despite technical hiccups. The biggest takeaway? Stay flexible, keep things moving, and trust your team. By the end, we felt like a tight-knit family—and seeing it all come together in post made the experience even more satisfying.“

Actor Loren: “I am an actor, who signed up for this workshop with zero expectations. I left the workshop thinking not only would I participate again as an actor, but also this could be an amazingly safe and supportive place for me to stretch myself into directing! Pam has created a wonderful framework for skills development and community building with this workshop. Her joyful and focused leadership strikes a great balance of keeping everyone on task and remaining relaxed throughout the experience. Well worth it!“

Actor Kimberly: “The Medical Procedural Workshop offered the use of props, medical jargon and the opportunity to talk to a real medical practitioner- among other things. Truly, a wonderful and unbelievable experience! The LA Director’s Lab is the way to go to sharpen every tool in the shed and to learn a few new ones.“

Gothic Slayers is officially out today!!

This coming of age film has brought me so much joy to work on. @dylan_eshbaugh and @bennyandthegetz wrote a hilarious and heartfelt story that came to life with @calub_harris’ awesome vision. Between the fun fight sequences, retro 8-bit animation, and endearing characters, this movie is a hoot.

Grab some popcorn and give it a watch, you’ll be supporting the cast and crew who gave it their all working on this independent film!

Links to watch are in my bio!

Recreated this ominous frame from "Hereditary" - Peter as King Paimon.

Director: 😈
DP: @rookspro
HMU: @sarajoy_sj
Actor: @wesraverty
Color: @color_nest

Submitted this for the #shotdeckrecreations contest this year. We spent a day putting together the tree house backing with a combination of cardboard and vinyl sheets, with some added lumber thrown. The crown is made out of vegetable leather glued together, and the moonlight in the back is achieved with a small table with slits raised on a C-stand.

We shot it all in @rookspro's living room and he absolutely killed it on this shot. @sarajoy_sj did a stellar work with her make-up, especially recreating the bruised and swollen eyes. @wesraverty's horror on-screen debut was fun and hilarious, and @color_nest knocked it out of the park with his color pass.
