Whats up everybody!

I have a really special show next week in lancaster, where my deepest roots have helped untangle some of the most complicated parts of myself and become the person that I confidently am today. I’ve more recently been in a state of intake and absorption of my surroundings as opposed to output, which is why I’ve chosen to create an album of past material of mine and revisit it, in an effort to expand and reflect on the original intention of these songs, with a clearer understanding and more well-rounded perception of the society- and dare I say- ‘world’ that we all live in today (I’m not quite that smart or well-traveled, but i’ll leave it in for dramatic effect). Anyway, the more complex life continues to get, the more there is to love and to dread about it, and I’m a firm believer that every ounce of dread is worth the eternity of love that this life feels like it ultimately equates to. I feel very lucky to feel this way, and I always feel compelled to do whatever I can to share this with every person I ever meet, to motivate and empower them, challenge them to be the best version of themselves that they will be most proud of. This is why I choose to share a reflection of important songs I’ve written over the past ten years that pertain to topics such as (roughly in song order):

-self care
-self awareness
-love of your surroundings
-reciprocation in relationships
-the exponential increase of lessons learned over time
-the infiltration of early trauma on development of character
-reality confrontation and the way it not only affects the present but also the future
-reanalysis of experiences
-embracing the arguably infinite time we have left
-the never ending search for the meaning of life
-embracing within our means, as necessary
-accepting that we are not defined by a single instance, but as a culmination over a period of time…
-That the future is always rooting for us to reach it, that our serene destination can see the path before we do and, like a guardian angel, will beckon us in the direction we must go in the form of our intuition, and constantly be there, even in the moments where we feel like we have nothing.

While I was sick, I spent some time trying to figure out how to add context to these songs l’ve recently rereleased, how to give them more life than they originally had just sitting around existing almost without purpose. I started searching youtube and the internet to try to more deeply understand the relationship between music and video. It sounds so simple, you can just sync any audio to any video, and boom. But I’m searching for a specific feeling. I know what I’m trying to evoke, and I know what the feeling feels like, but how do you intentionally create a feeling with a combination of music and video? It comes down to the nuances, the relation of things like color and tempo and frequency and quality. I found a bunch of free old film footage online that I synced to parts of these songs, just to experiment with how the different footage might complement these songs. I’ll post one a day for the next 9 days, you might see some repeated footage, just pretend you didn’t! All of life is an experiment, let’s just do things and see what happens, cuz if we don’t, then what can we possibly be certain of for ourselves?
