4 years of performing. A little on what performing means to me and why I would be honoured to be nominated for @sexualfreedomawards performer of the year.

When I came to London from my small town in Northumberland, I was looking for community and a place where all parts of me could exist without shame.
Shame is something I learned before pride. Before I can remember, I have held shame for experiences inflicted on me without my consent. I had learnt that my sexuality was something to avoid, something of repulsion and all of me could not exist entirely in one space.
When I perform, I radiate pride from spaces that once held so much shame. My performances come from a space of my own honest, raw sensuality. I have taken what once felt like fragments of myself and built Jaytheystallion. Existing as Jaytheystallion on stage has allowed me to live as authentically, bravely and passionately outside of my work life.
I am so honoured to be platformed in the queer community and celebrate eroticism, queerness and authenticity. Some of my favourite moments are looking into the audience and being privy to other people’s most vulnerable and intimate moments, and being reminded that we are reflections of each other.

I have worked hard over the last few years grafting to become a staple of queer nightlife, although I am not posting much of the work I’m doing due to meta censorship. I would tag the events, festivals, international club nights, and workshops I have collaborated on over the past few years to show you what I have been busy with!
I’ve had the absolute joy of performing at some of the UK’s biggest and boldest lesbian and queer nights, including @lickevents , s♥️x and rage, @juiceboxevents , @strapped.events, @galpalsclub , @xrageclubhouse , @leatherette_ldn , Last Exit on Bethnal Green (release party) and the iconic @uhaul.dyke.rescue

Been working real hard this last year to create my vision of mixing dancehall and circus together and I'm sooo excited to share it with you all in august.
I won't say too much just yet but for now I'll be in the lab cooking up something really special.

Being queer has allowed me to experience all aspects of my self and my pleasure. To find joy in so many different places without having to repress parts of my humanity to appease gender roles. Forever grateful for chosen family, for nature for holding me as an extension of Mother Earth and for myself for actualising a life that was beyond what I dreamed off.
It is a privilege to be out as a queer poly babe, and something I wish all queer people were able to experience. Whatever pockets we feel seen and held are sacred and deserving of celebration.♥️

JayJay Divine debuts Divine hoops an electrifying new style fusing the Jamaican cultural dance style dancehall and hoops together
The piece transports us through old school and new school tracks and dance moves from Thunder clap to stir fry. It honours the Pioneers with a section dedicated to the ‘greatest dancer of all time’ Mr wacky and the ‘queen of dancehall’ Spice.
Full of dancehall nostalgia from references to the unofficial kotch music video to Macka diamonds hoola hoop this is a mosaic of dancehall moments
JayJay divine has developed this style over the last nine months as part of a wider mission to reimagine traditional circus to centre parts of Black culture and disrupt a colonial legacy of exploiting, trafficking and fetishising Black circus performers.
The piece celebrates the sanctity of collective cultural movement, honours the dancehall Queens that continue to inspire the reclamation of Black woman’s pleasure and the audacious attitude of dancehall in a world obsessed with humbling Black woman. A dancehall fever dream is an ode to JayJay divines own journey working in Black queer nightlife for the past four years and how this is shaped her own understanding of embodiment community and freedom Take a deep breath and welcome to JayJay divines world. free up yourself

Uk performer of the year 2026!!! 🐎
A literal dream come true, the final tick of my performer bucket list I created 5 years ago.
5 years ago , I was living in a homeless hostel, having left my home town by Newcastle and moving to London at 19 to create some distance between myself and the sexual violence and predators I had experienced there. I came here feeling like a shell of a person with nothing but hope and found myself and my communities and a life beyond what I could have dreamed of.

After 4 years of working every queer night in this city, teaching workshops around Europe, community and union organising, endless admin and promoting , and incredibly beautiful moments on and off the dance floor I can now say my impact and influence on queer nightlife is so beautifully immortalised in the iconic freedom awards golden flying rainbow d*ck trophy 😂.

Thankyou to everyone that has supported and inspired me to find myself in London, to everybody who’s danced with me over the years, to all my amazing students and to Juliette lance; the girl who was to scared to speak in high school, scared people would find out secrets that weren’t hers to hold, scared to be seen, look at what we’ve created baby.
