Dance/non-dance happening. Research of unknown. Co-existence.
Participants have taken part in a two-week motion laboratory, exploring the physicality and spirituality of the contemporary human being. Facilitators @thevoldemar @jay.reality guided the explorers along a transformative path, providing Butoh techniques and contemporary dance practices. Conscious, progressive motion throughout the laboratory fostered a sense of presence alongside a continuous, uninterrupted search. Here is a glimpse of the upcoming film shot during Co-Event, soon to be unveiled in full.

We are excited to share the official trailer for TO DANCE IS TO RESIST. This documentary has been in the making for over 3.5 years, telling a story of love, hope, and resistance within Kyiv’s LGBTQI+ community during the ongoing war.
We are also honoured to announce our partnership with @k41community.fund , an organisation dedicated to fostering artistic and cultural resilience while actively supporting its community. As Kyiv’s most relevant nightclub and one of the few safer spaces for the queer community, ∄ has been a vital refuge for creativity, resistance, and self-expression. More than just a cultural institution, it has been a home for our protagonists, making their support for this film especially meaningful.
As we enter the final stage of post-production, we are continuing our fundraising efforts to ensure that all collaborators are compensated fairly. Our goal is to complete post-production in Kyiv, ensuring the funds raised directly support Ukraine’s creative industry. Any contribution — whether financial or by sharing our campaign — brings us one step closer to our goal.

We were incredibly grateful to be featured in Siegessäule Magazin last month, one of Berlin’s most important LGBTQIA+ publications.
Thank you to @siegessaeule_magazin for supporting this story and helping us share it with a wider community.

Last month, TO DANCE IS TO RESIST had its premiere at BFI Flare, presented by the @britishfilminstitute and it’s hard to fully put into words what that moment meant to us.
This film has been years in the making, shaped by a small, independent team and the trust of Jay and Vol’demar, who have opened their lives with so much courage. To share their story with a room full of people who truly connected to the message of this film was incredibly moving.
What stayed with us most was the conversations afterwards about dance, resistance, community and what it means to be resilient in the face of war.
We’re so grateful to be part of a festival that continues to champion queer stories with such care and intention. Big thank you to the team behind BFI Flare, especially for giving us the chance to flow from our screenings directly onto the dance floor and fully embody the movement behind our message.
And this is just the beginning!
We’re carrying this momentum forward as the film continues its journey. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far!
