Forgive my essay but I made it to the mountaintop and I got some things to say…
604 days since I tore my ACL.
571 days since surgery.
One of my most grueling challenges in life.
This week, I passed the final strength test that my physical therapist @jasondphysio and I have been working towards day in and day out for months now.
Every single part of my ACL journey became a metaphor to me on how to face hardship, how to see life, and how to find your way through it.
In this last phase, progress felt stagnant. The meaningful numbers just weren’t coming. I kept showing up, putting in the work, and waiting. And it ended up being my knee’s final lesson to me: patience is key, timing is inevitable, and trusting the process really is the only way. This is a lesson I take with me every day now.
The day I found out I tore my ACL, I was devastated. It came during a year that I will forever consider one of the hardest years of my life for many reasons.
That day, I wrote myself a promise. I promised I wouldn’t return to full competitive league bball play until my body told me it was time. I promised myself I’d take the super cautious route and wait until I was within <10% of every metric. This week I got there.
I also wrote myself a mental roadmap in my journal: “While this feels like a cruel, cruel joke, this is a test to see if I can apply the lessons I’ve learned in 2024. This is an opportunity. A chance to build. To experience the full athlete highs and lows. And ultimately, a practice of patience and letting go.”
I can say with immense pride that I followed that game plan to an absolute T!
The only way I could follow that game plan was with the unwavering daily support and expertise of one of the most dedicated, caring, absolute gems of a human: @jasondphysio, my physical therapist.
Words will never express my deepest gratitude for everything you gave me every step of the way. This win is just as much yours as it is mine, because without you, I never would’ve gotten here.
Thank you x 1 trillion ❤️
Been hooping a lot more these past few months and my knees reminding me I’m not in my 20s 🥲
Session focus: Eccentric tendon capacity

- Drop catches w/ elevated heel
- Bulgarian extensive plyos
- Ecc SL leg press (quad biased)

Hoopers, try it out and lmk what you think 🏀 #physicaltherapy #basketball #rehab #kneepain #acl
Happy one year anniversary to my new ACL 💕
This 1 min Reel barelyyy scratches the surface of all that has gone into this past year. I learned real quick that healing is not linear. It has taken a different kind of deep grit, patience and determination. Setbacks are to be expected but they always came at the most unexpected times. While growth is a gift, it’s also damn hard. And yet through it all, I learned so much about who I am. I built such gratitude for my body’s capabilities. The tiny moments became big milestones. It has been a transformational year, to say the least (& I still have more to go)…
The last clip here is me in the same spot where I hobbled on crutches post surgery. This time, I just got out of my 12 month post op appointment and got cleared to not come back. The celebratory moment called for a silly dance. Never forget to celebrate your wins, especially when by yourself!
To all of you who have followed the journey and been supporting near and far, from the bottom of my heart thank you for pulling me through, for sharing your own challenges, and for motivating me to keep working.
To my phenomenal physical therapist @jasondphysio, there are no words for the gratitude I have for you being there every single step of the way. You, more than anyone, have seen it all, and I truly couldn’t get to where I am today without you. Thank you for literally making no two workouts the same (!!), for training my mind as much as my body, and sharing your expertise and care so abundantly. & now you’re stuck with me as a homie for life too 😂 let’s keep going, we got goals to chase!
