Even though I’m still kinda buzzin about touring with the @the_mavericks , I know there’s a lot of work to be done. Lots of songs to really dig in & learn so I can do them justice. This song has been a favorite of mine for awhile & I can’t wait to play it in front of an audience. Thanks to Paul Deakin for loaning me this sweet nylon string Cordoba until I find one.

I’m honored to have been asked to join The Mavericks for “The Mavericks and Friends The Music Lives On Tour.” I joined the band at The Ryman for a couple shows to honor Raul in Dec. There was undeniable musical & onstage chemistry, but I never imagined it would turn into this opportunity.
I’ve had friends in the band for over 20 years and have always loved & respected their music. Their eclectic, outside the box energy has always appealed to the musical non conformist side of me. Raul Malo’s voice is iconic and his stellar songwriting and incredible musicianship made him a legend. I am humbled to lend my talents to the band and share the stage with my golden voiced friend Emily West to celebrate Raul & The Mavericks musical legacy.I believe in my heart Raul would want the band and the music he spent a lifetime creating to play on. I’m really looking forward to playing all this incredible music and meeting all the fans out on tour.

I’m packing up my cold weather gear and headed North. I’m really looking forward to seeing all my Canadian friends this week.

As a songwriter I use songs to speak what’s on my heart. I wrote this song as a way to express my feelings about Raul’s passing and The Mavericks touring again. I hope it hits all the right notes.
