I’m still days later, fully processing what went down in Birmingham on the 5th. Everyone’s posting their thoughts and feelings about it, I’ll keep this brief. Back to the Beginning was monumental. As a fan of heavy music, being able to just be there was truly incredible. As a roadie, I could not be more proud to have been a part of it. What I can only describe as a heroic amount of fortitude and work ethic was on display all day by every single person both on and back stage. Every ego was checked, everyone knew what we were there to do. That is the power of heavy metal. I could not be more thankful to have been there, especially working for a band and crew that I consider family at this point. Not to mention every person I’ve ever met in the industry all under one roof at one time. All now friends for life because of the music of Black Sabbath. A specialized route for the neck pickup. Then that route necessitated a change in the pick guard. So I came up with a creative solution for that. It shows off the route he wanted, avoids any unsightly gaps from the original route, and it accidentally came out looking pretty Texas friendly (the contours look very cowboy boot to me). Putting in his pickups of choice, wiring them up, a Plek, and a set up. It plays like a dream.
