Thank you all for the birthday love. I’m humbled by all messages received. Y’all are awesome. I’d like to share some perspective as I enter year 33 and this decade.
I didn’t accomplish what I wanted during the 2010s. Mainly because I didn’t really know what I was doing and I didn’t take the time to know what I wanted to do until the latter part of the decade. I drifted and I cruised in a comfortable type of lifestyle, where my routine was more closely related to monotony than intentional and disciplined choices. While I remain grateful for the memories from those years, I wish I could’ve added to them with some sort of self-progress in my own aspirations and goals. My favorite memories of this decade involve those where I took risks; where I took a chance and even though some of those choices led to some failures, I felt so A L I V E.I took a chance to ask my best friend on a real date with the hopes that maybe she’ll see me as more than a friend, and hey, it worked. Ya boy got out the friend zone. I also quit a really comfortable job to go freelance and pursue the dream I’ve had since I was child. I didn’t have a plan B, or any safety net, I just stepped out in faith and went for it and while I may not be where I wanna be yet, my goodness, it feels incredible to be chasing the Dream. They say we only see clearly in hindsight, and for the sake of using the year as a pun, we only see 20/20 when we look back at our past. Can I encourage you to take some risks, to not be afraid of failure and go do that - whatever your THAT is. While we see 20/20 to the past, the future is blind to us, but it’s only going to be determined through the actions we make now.I say all of this because it’s ok that you didn’t have the best 2010s. Let’s take some risks this year, and this decade, that your future self, in 2030, can be proud of and not for the sake of a social media post, but for you. You owe it to yourself.Success is just a few failures away. So go. Take risks and have fun. 📷: The Bae @marysolphoto#33
