On the heels of @_j.db_ ‘s sure-footed debut, we invited seven of our favorite artists from LA and the Midwest to reinterpret Josiah’s work. The result threads brooding minimalist jungle, dubbed-out heaters, and psychedelic ambient soundscapes into a cohesive, album-like LP, suited for dancefloors and chill-out rooms alike. Release design by @petergeokent with photography by Spillman & @mazheira from Johnson Valley, CA, taken on the outskirts of our annual @gradientcampout with @printshop.club

Suspended in the gallery is a sound work from the Los Angeles-based sound designer Ian Ellison which was designed for 𝐶𝑖𝑚𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑎. Ian and I have worked on a bunch of projects together for the past 3 and a half years and he has taught me so much about the character and significance of sound in relation to my practice. The work, ‘Apotheosis’, runs for 25 minutes on a loop. Big thank you to Ian for this work, it’s always so incredible working with you.
