- Two mat areas (100m² and 60m²) giving you plenty of space to train,
- Capacity to run two classes simultaneously offering you a better experience and more flexibility,
- Separate boys’ and girls’ changing rooms a massive upgrade from our last facility
- Dedicated toilets for both boys and girls,
- Designated area to keep your gear organised.

We are so proud of our blue belt @_abi.parkinson who secured silver at ADCC UK National Championships 2026 in the intermediate -65kg category 👏💙

It takes a lot of courage to step out on the mats and you did the gym and yourself proud! We want to remind people that these are highlights. A huge well done to all the other women who competed—you help push our members to be better too.

We know that there still is a long way to go in bringing more women into this sport, and there are even fewer that decide to compete. So anyone that steps up to compete has already achieved something big.

We hope more women come through our doors, whether you’re looking for a safe gym or to try jiu-jitsu for the first time.

🇬🇧 There’s something special about grading day. You might congratulate someone on their promotion without fully knowing what the belts or stripes mean, and that’s okay, because this has never been about chasing belts.

Every promotion reflects hours most people never see. The hard rounds, the moments you wanted to quit, the days you showed up anyway. It’s the quiet choice, again and again, to keep going and to be a little better than yesterday.

Jiu jitsu has a way of revealing who you are. Ego doesn’t last long here, only effort, resilience, and growth. That’s what today really celebrates: consistency, humility, and skill earned over time.

For our club, grading is a reminder of what we’re building. People from all walks of life choosing discipline, respect, and self improvement, pushing and supporting each other every step of the way.

Belts will come in time. They always do. What matters is who you become along the way and who you share it with.

This is more than a sport.This is our community.

🇧🇷 Tem algo especial no dia de graduação. Você pode parabenizar alguém pela promoção sem entender totalmente o significado das faixas ou dos graus, e tudo bem, porque nunca se tratou de correr atras de faixas ou graus.

Cada promoção reflete horas que a maioria das pessoas não vê. Os treinos duros, os momentos em que você pensou em desistir, os dias em que você apareceu mesmo sem vontade. É a escolha silenciosa, a determinação de continuar e de ser um pouco melhor do que ontem.

O jiu-jitsu tem uma forma de revelar quem você é. O ego não dura muito aqui, só ficam o esforço, a resiliência e o crescimento. É isso que hoje realmente celebramos, consistência, humildade e habilidade conquistada com o tempo.

Para a nossa equipe, a graduação é um lembrete do que estamos a construir. Pessoas de diferentes caminhos, unidas pela disciplina, respeito e vontade de evoluir, incentivando e apoiando um ao outro em cada passo.

As faixas vêm com o tempo. Sempre vêm. O que realmente importa é quem você se torna ao longo do caminho e com quem você compartilha essa jornada.

From first starting at Fightstar to where we are now at the new gym, it’s been years of training, lessons, tough rounds, and a lot of great people along the way. I’ve met some amazing friends through this sport and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who’s been part of it — coaches, training partners, teammates, all of you.

I know some of my mates think it’s just rolling around on the floor in pyjamas with sweaty people… and to be fair, a lot of the time it is 😝 but it’s also so much more than that. Jiu Jitsu teaches you a lot, especially how to stay calm under pressure and not give up when things get tough — something that carries over into everyday life more than people realise and this is 100% true for me.

I’ve met some amazing friends through this sport and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who’s been part of it — coaches, training partners, teammates, all of you.

I know some of my mates think it’s just rolling around on the floor in pyjamas with sweaty people… and to be fair, a lot of the time it is 😝 but it’s also so much more than that. Jiu Jitsu teaches you a lot, especially how to stay calm under pressure and not give up when things get tough — something that carries over into everyday life more than people realise and this is 100% true for me.

So if you’ve ever thought about trying it, this is your sign to get on the mats.

Super proud to receive my Jiu Jitsu black belt from my coach and brother @fabioferraribjj What a journey it’s been.

From first starting at Fightstar to where we are now at the new gym, it’s been years of training, lessons, tough rounds, and a lot of great people along the way. I’ve met some amazing friends through this sport and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who’s been part of it — coaches, training partners, teammates, all of you.

@impulsebjj has played such a pivotal part of my life and mental health for the last few years and when I started, I always said to myself purple belt is my goal.

From here on, it’s to just keep pushing to better myself on and off the mats and support the team.

E118: Leo Coates - Blue Belt

Leo Coates is a four-stripe Blue Belt and started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu back in 2021, and comes from a Rugby background. Leo previously trained Judo as a child and that was his only introduction to martial arts.Due to injury Leo moved from his 20 years in Rugby to Jiu Jitsu, and wishes he started competing at White Belt.

Leo has a whole career based in the coffee industry and decided in 2025 to combine his love of Jiu Jitsu with his coffee experience, and now through sales gives back to the BJJ community supporting young people starting out and competing. Inviting families that haven’t yet embarked on their Jiu Jitsu journey and serving Clinch Coffee to the adults whilst the kids, and even the parents train is something any BJJ club could try, especially to continue to build the positive community.
