Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓
We are so proud of all you’ve accomplished and excited to see where your next adventure takes you. Wishing you success, happiness, and unforgettable experiences as you begin this exciting new chapter!

@umdcs and @bsciumd grad Srinidhi Arumugam's next stop is @harvardmed's Biomedical Informatics Master's Program!
One of her biggest influences at UMD was @ils__umd, which Srinidhi says emphasized interdisciplinary approaches to problems. In her undergrad research in the Child Development Lab, Srinidhi used computer vision and machine learning techniques to analyze mobile eye-tracking data and study parent-child interactions.
She also conducted off-campus research at @harvardmed and @nihgov and participated in student orgs such as @umd_aoe, @umdaapu and @umd.fimrc.
“I'm most excited to work at the intersection of technology and medicine, especially in areas like AI for healthcare and developing tools that can make healthcare more accessible,” Srinidhi said about her next stop.

Recap on the 2026 ILS International Night hosted by the DEI committee 🗺️💫
Thank you to all the volunteers, chefs, performers, and artists who helped put together this incredible event!
Huge congratulations to Amrutha Alibilli and UMD Moksha, where she serves as the Co-Captain, for earning 2nd place at the Origins National Intercollegiate Championship this past weekend among 50+ university teams nationwide!
Their powerful Bharatanatyam performance brought attention to the farmers in India through moving storytelling and choreography. We are especially proud to celebrate two ILS students on the team, Amrutha Alibilli and Archisha Saxena, for this incredible achievement and help share the beauty of Indian classical dance with the UMD community!

Most juniors are choosing clubs and roommates; ILS student and microbiology major Lindsey Walter ’27 is choosing what to name a brand-new microbe they discovered in the gut of a rainbow trout. Their work in UMD’s Salem Lab could one day help make food fish—and the people who eat them—healthier, and it’s now the focus of their Honors thesis research.
“If there’s any way we can use it to make the fish healthier—and potentially the humans who eat them—that would be really meaningful,” they said.
Read about Lindsey’s project at go.umd.edu/waltermicrobe or at the link in our bio.
