The Toyota Starlet KP60 (part of the Starlet “60 series”) is the second-generation Starlet, introduced in February 1978.

The KP60 generation offered small-displacement engines:
993 cc “2K” engine — KP60
1,166 cc “3K” engine — KP62
1,290 cc “4K” engine — KP61.

In addition to the more common 3- and 5-door hatchback bodies, there was a 5-door wagon (estate) variant, often referred to as a “Kombi” in some markets or “Van” in Japan.

In Europe (especially Germany), the “Kombi” version was offered only with the 1.0-litre (KP60) engine.

The wagon had a simple, utilitarian design: the 1982 KP60 Kombi had a 993 cc engine (about 45 bhp) and offered decent cargo space — some sources note up to 619 liters of luggage capacity.

Over its production run, the KP60 Starlet received facelifts:
In 1980, switched from round to square headlights.

In 1982–83, another update: slanted nose, body tweaks, and interior changes.

The KP-series Starlet used Toyota K-series engines, which are OHV 4-cylinder engines; the 2K (993 cc) is part of that family.
According to the FIA historic database, the KP60 was homologated for motorsport, with the 993 cc engine and RWD configuration noted.
