Very excited about this concert at Williams College this Wednesday, Nov. 13th, with Talujon Percussion, Jamie Jordan, works by Paula Matthusen, Dewa Alit, Ileana Perez Velázquez and my “We Lived Happily During the War” inspired by a poem by Ilya Kaminsky. Hope to see you there!

So happy to contribute to this project with the South Dakota Symphony and John Luther Adams! @umichpercussion got to join the fun as the percussion section and on the epic piano part. It is an amazing record and piece. Check it out!
We are so incredibly excited to announce the forthcoming release of @ianantonio_’s 12 Constructions for Timpani via Liquidrum Publishing. This FANTASTIC collection of 12 timpani etudes is now available for pre-sale purchase at our website, link in bio, or product tag. Take advantage of the very special pre-sale pricing of $20 through Oct 12 (standard pricing = $26).
12 Constructions for Timpani is a collection of timpani etudes designed for percussionists to showcase a variety of skills in a short period of time. Each etude asks the performer to demonstrate a range of articulations, rolls, dampening, excellent time, musical phrasing, and more. Because performances in audition, contest, or jury settings are often on unfamiliar drums, the etudes do not feature internal tuning changes, making them ideal selections for these occasions.
Check out the composer himself beautifully performing Etude 6 above and grab your copy today!!! We’ll be releasing several more videos of other etudes in the collection over the coming days, all performed expertly by our good friends of the @umichpercussion studio💛💙

Preview of page 1 percussion interlude in Eric Wubbels’ new trio for flute, perc, pno. Premiere of “chlorophyll” next Tuesday in NYC. Some ring modulation on the woodblocks and freeze pedal on the planks :)

Please join us on Tuesday, June 4th at St. Peters Chelsea for Wet Ink’s Spring Chamber Concert!
//
Wet Ink’s 25th Season continues with a spring chamber music concert featuring works by 2024-25 Artist-In-Residence Carolyn Chen, Eric Wubbels, and Sam Pluta, alongside a duo performance by Peter Evans and Sam Pluta. The concert features the premiere of the first episode of Eric Wubbels’s new cycle Second Nature, written for flutist Erin Lesser, percussionist Ian Antonio, and the composer on keyboard instruments. Pluta’s binary/momentary ii tries to capture the energy and virtuosity of an improvised quintet in a fully scored composition. Chen’s Rendition was inspired by the story of Maher Arar, the Canadian engineer who underwent the American process of extraordinary rendition. The music makes time to inhabit a series of harmonic intervals, derived from place names on his journey to detainment and torture in Syria.

I’m excited to share that “Outermost Melodies”, a double album of works for percussion by Jürg Frey, is out today. It is available on the fantastic British label, Another Timbre. Bandcamp today and CDs soon…
This project took several years to realize and included a great team. Huge thank yous to David Cossin for the many days of recording and editing and mixing, my superb colleagues in Talujon, Simon at Another Timbre, and Jürg for his cooperation through the entire process and for a composing a new solo for this record.
These pieces are truly extraordinary. A short series of extracts on youtube is linked in the bio.
