Since launching in 2004, the label has been shaped as much by philosophy, cybernetics and futurism as dubstep, grime and footwork.

Loraine James construyó su reputación sobre una electrónica que siempre prefirió la insinuación al estruendo. En los últimos años esa tendencia se ha agudizado hasta abrazar un minimalismo digital que encuentra en la reducción de elementos su mayor potencia expresiva. ‘Detached From The Rest Of You’ surge de un período en el que la productora londinense batallaba con la desconfianza en sus propias capacidades, una sensación de insuficiencia que la llevó a replantearse los fundamentos de su escritura. La colaboración previa con Anysia Kym en el EP ‘Clandestine’ le proporcionó herramientas propias de las estructuras pop y ese aprendizaje atraviesa ahora todo el trabajo como una corriente subterránea que aflora en formas de canción más ceñidas. James describió este álbum como su disco de estrella pop IDM. La etiqueta contiene una verdad incómoda: la exposición de la voz propia, situada más arriba en la mezcla, supone un acto de afirmación que contradice la modestia que siempre ha caracterizado su figura pública.
