House of Pluto
House of Pluto Presents many artists in many venues. Follow us to keep up with the play
🖤❤️🖤✊🏾🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🇵🇸
14 Auckland St, Waiharakeke - Wairau
Our friend @janesttancl captured the energy of our Pluto crew coming together to celebrate music, kai, and community!
This time we had @droooooook perform in the pumpkin patch. Arohanui @alowhum for bringing such talented artists to our town!! Truly!
Let us not forget the Twin Rudders warming up the vege patch with @fam_aotearoa on the compost heap and @giddy_yaw with some chimes he found in the Māra. Beautiful sound soup as always and a special performance by Blink.... I could have listened to you all night.
Big love to @swazza3000 for managing the sound
To Dunc for the sound system your a true gem and we appreciate you greatly!!
It was our first time with the @nordicsaunanz
We will be back, what an incredible experience! Some people sat in the sauna as the sun set enjoying the band while sweating their butt off.... That's punk style self care if you ask me. Go see them at Hedgerows!!
Ngā mihi to all that cooked with aroha and made kai to share. It was a beautiful harvest feast.
Lastly a special ngā mihi to @bruno.saunders
Jaun casas, Fatima, Manti, Gio, Santi, Drea, Kaylani, schnook, moss, Jan, Sam and George for caring for the whenua and community and opening up your home to everyone 🦀
As they say.... It takes a village! For everyone who came or wanted to come, we see you and appreciate sharing these memories with ya. xx

Nested in the South Pacific at the ends of the Earth, New Zealanders have always had to invent or build things they couldn’t easily obtain. Locals have even coined a term for it: “Number 8. wire mentality.”
This DIY sentiment runs deep in NZ club culture, through the local crews and promoters who work tirelessly to create spaces for their communities to dance and connect.
Set against ongoing cost of living issues and the operational challenges faced by bar, nightclub, and venue owners, you’ll often find Kiwi dancers gathering in warehouse spaces, private residencies, art galleries, community halls, public parks, and all manner of repurposed locations.
@martynpepperell spoke to NZ crews @__mouthfull__, @echosoundsystem_, @houseof_pluto, @tenderbuttons.dance, and @strangebehaviour_nz about how and why they use music and number 8. wire ingenuity as a tool to keep people connected and create well-deserved joy on the dancefloor.

During her Aotearoa tour 2026
She is looking to spend time in the area, collect field recordings and generally engage with the stories of our whenua, aswell as collaborate and workshop with folks locally, reach out if you are interested in being involved.
Jennifer Reid
Rooted in archives and oral histories, her work braids nineteenth-century music with the present: teaching, performing, researching, sharing, advocating and supporting spaces for memory and making in the tradition.
Some words from the mighty @jeremydeller
"Jennifer as a performer and writer breathes life back into these fascinating songs that vividly describe the tumultuous environment of the industrial North West. Taking their subject matter from the urban street and people the ballad effectively bridges the gap between folk and pop music as we know it today.”
