Steamboat Records sent me on the album a few weeks back. Stuck it on in the shop one afternoon and instantly loved it. Strange, funny, moving, totally original.

Then, pure serendipity, the very same day an email lands from his manager Reuben asking would we be interested in a winter show in The Attic.

Delighted to say Seamus Fogarty plays The Attic, Hotel Doolin on Saturday November 14th.

Always smiling. Never rattled. Doesn’t matter what’s going on around him.

Originally from Nepal, Satish worked all around the world and in Limerick before “Bhagwan ko kripa” (भगवानको कृपा) he ended up in Doolin and we’re very glad he did, especially after tasting his Burren beef short rib momo dumplings. The perfect meeting of Nepal and North Clare on one plate.

The name Satish comes from Sanskrit and depending who you talk to means “lord of happiness”, “one who brings joy” or “truthful and honest ruler” and we think any one of those fits him perfectly.

On his first week working in Hotel Doolin he joined the team hiking up Carrauntoohil in the middle of winter, casually walking up the highest mountain in Ireland in a t-shirt, shorts and a pair of flip flops like he was heading down to Centra for a litre of milk.

Whether it’s climbing Ireland’s highest mountain, jumping into the freezing Atlantic waters or leading service for a wedding of 300 people, nothing seems to bother him.

Outside the kitchen, Satish’s world revolves around his beautiful wife Usha, who also works here at Hotel Doolin after previously running her own fashion boutique back home, and their little son Aayan who just started school in Lisdoonvarna this year.

Alongside everything else, Satish is also an executive committee member of the Nepali Association Ireland @nrna helping support and connect the Nepali community here in Ireland.

One of the very good ones.
