I am deeply devastated by the sudden passing of my dear friend Masayuki “Manta” Nishimoto on Monday, the 26th. I know many of us who knew him are feeling a similar grief. My heart is shattered, and I miss him terribly.
Masa led numerous projects in the Harajuku area of Tokyo, including The Mass, Stand By, and SAI just to name a few. He was truly exceptional at what he did, and I was blown away by the scale of his projects every time I saw him during my visit.
I just saw him last week during my visit to Tokyo. He was always the first and last guy I would see during my stays there. To me, he was like a shrine—someone I would visit at the beginning and end of my trip. He told me about his upcoming projects. He always had new stuff coming.
He was a type who never asked for nothing, always helping others find their way. Masa always worked behind the curtain making others shine, yet in person, he was always the brightest. He cared less about fame and more about relationships. He was special.
My deepest condolences go out to his family, en one Tokyo crew, Satoru, Yuma, Tsuji kun, Noboru, Shiori chan and all others who knew him closely.
I love you Manta. I appreciate everything you did for me and my family. また会える日を楽しみにしてます。
