Kohtusin Euroopa Komisjoni asepresidendi Henna Virkkuneniga.

Tutvustasin Eesti panust Twin It! 3D kampaaniasse, mille raames digiteerisime Läänemere põhjas asuvad ajaloolised (17. saj pärit) laevavrakid.

Kunstnik Merike Estna.
Lõike kõnest:
If you ask a child—any child, any age—who is the fairest and bravest person on Earth, they will most likely point to their mother.
Motherhood is one of the most beautiful forms of bravery. It is care. It is creativity.
And so is art.
But too often, art is also a privilege. Just as freedom is still a privilege—for far too many people.
And yet we must not despair.
Here, under this leaking sky, Merike Estna shows us how to hold these truths with empathy and strength: artisthood, womanhood, motherhood. Not by keeping them to herself, but by sharing them. By making them visible, present, impossible to ignore.
…..
We have to be here, not just physically, but emotionally. United. Steady. Inspired by courage. Because art is at the core of self-determination.
The absurdity and chaos that the current management of La Biennale has forced on so many of us raises hard questions—for artists, for audiences, for states. Does this still make sense, and is it ethical to be here?
I stand here proudly and with conviction—as a politician, minister of culture, as a woman, and as a mother.
We need to reclaim this forum, make it ours again, and insist on real freedom, real unity, trust, and dialogue.
We cannot allow art to be occupied by aggressors or turned into propaganda. And we cannot allow ourselves to be pushed aside. This is our place to hold, and so are our values.
We should learn from the brave women in this pavilion and beyond, from this century and the last. Their art and their lives have been acts of courage. They inspire us.
I stand here and speak for my country thanks to Merike, and thanks to all artists in Estonia—not the other way around.
Today, more than ever, all art is also political. But art is always more than politics, more than national identities. Borders must stay porous—open, alive.
Art and artists must remain free. Only then can we all remain truly independent.

The diversity of cultures, expressions, languages, and identities must be actively defended against all forms of imperialism. This is not a secondary concern — it is one of the defining moral challenges of our time.

Ukraine’s sovereignty, language, and culture are not debatable. They are anchored in international law, affirmed by democratic choice, and through centuries of history.

Those who have never experienced occupation or systematic repression live with a privilege that must be acknowledged — and must not be mistaken for moral authority.
Aggressors must be isolated, constrained, and confronted. Imperial impulses must be dismantled, not managed. This is precisely why sanctions are not optional gestures but binding obligations that must be fully respected.
La Biennale is a unique global platform with a long and influential history. Year after year, artists, architects, and organisers invest immense effort to present their strongest work here in Venice.
If the values upheld by the vast majority of participants are dismissed, trivialised, or openly mocked, then serious and unavoidable questions arise about the future credibility of this institution.

Artistic freedom and freedom of expression are not empty slogans. They are principles worth defending — collectively, consistently, and without double standards.

These freedoms are the foundation of any genuine independence. They must never be hollowed out or weaponised by propaganda.
Artistic freedom cannot and must not be used to whitewash war crimes.

Leedu kultuuriminister @vaidaaleknaviciene on külaskäigul Tallinnas.

On olnud õpetlik aeg.

Saates on Heidy Purga! 💿🎧

Kas räpp-battle’id võiksid olla eeskujuks poliitilistele debattidele? 🏛️🇪🇪
