Feeling stuck, stressed, sad, anxious? I highly recommend some weird movement and being less domesticated. Being weird & wild is my favorite, it helps with everything. It doesn’t take long to get in your body, notice what’s there, & move what feels stuck. It doesn’t have to look pretty.

Two minutes of shaking & weird spirals & sounds, I already feel more present, alive, grounded, and connected to my heart.

Meet Heidi Schaul-Yoder ✨

Heidi’s passion for healing was born out her own personal experiences navigating struggle and loss, and the profound transformation she found through somatic psychotherapy. A Juilliard-trained violinist turned Licensed Psychoanalyst and Certified Gestalt Therapist, she brings a rare depth to her work, weaving together mindfulness, trauma therapy, and the mind-body connection to help people reconnect with their innate capacity to heal.

To Heidi, the work of somatic therapy feels like a sacred unwinding of anything that has restricted or limited us, and a reclamation of our authenticity, agency and full aliveness. She takes a very relational approach, and sees the process as a collaboration with her clients and a space for our messy humanness to be welcomed and explored. Healing happens in relationship and community, which is also why being a part of BMC is so meaningful for her and her practice — the collective and the other members of the team provide a web of support that generates inspiration and anchoring for her work. 🌿

How many times today did you say yes when every part of you wanted to say no? 😬

✦ Tune into your body’s natural “yes” and “no”
✦ Connect with the depth of your healthy power
✦ Release people-pleasing patterns — for good

Whether it’s your boss, your family, or your inner critic — you deserve to feel rooted, self-expressed, and free.

One of my most beloved former yoga teachers, Susanna Harwood Rubin, has passed, and I’m taking time to honor her graceful and wise spirit. Her yoga classes were wondrous journeys through imagery, Hindu mythology and sensation that would inevitably land me both deep inside myself and connected with the infinite vastness. Her artistry and attention to detail made each moment feel like ceremony.

Susanna taught me what true devotion looks like, how to embrace the fire of transformation, and to always point my arrow toward what is beautiful and sweet. She especially loved Ganesha, the Hindu god of the thresholds, and I have no doubt he is accompanying her. Thank you for everything, Susanna. You will be so deeply missed. 💔❤️🐘🐘

This year showed me unequivocally that what our ego grasps after isn’t the ultimate truth of what’s here for us…that something beyond our small mind is telling a much larger story about what lessons we’re here to learn, and what deeper vision is wanting to be born through us.

I know the shedding has been relentless. But can you trust that all the falling away, the emptying out, the letting go is clearing the most beautiful, peaceful space for your most true & aligned self to emerge? Maybe we don’t need to hold everything so tightly. It’s ok to let the fire burn all the way down.

Life is a constant cycle of endings & beginnings, births & deaths, contractions & expansions. None of it is a mistake, and when we believe that it’s all life’s way of loving us, we’ll receive vastly different insights & messages.

Ever grateful for my teachers & guides.
Wishing you the most gentle and potent beginning of this new year.
Thank you for being here 🙏

Our boundaries were never meant to be monoliths or rigid barriers to entry, but actually pathways to deeper connection & authenticity — naturally spontaneous, fluid and ever-changing. We’re always feeling & defining who we are through this beautiful dance of contact with everyone and everything around us, like waves on the shoreline.

If you’re craving some gentle & embodied support around sensing and expressing your unique boundaries, my pre-recorded virtual workshop is now available! Link is in my bio. There’s nothing like getting yourself set up feeling empowered, safe and deeply in tune with yourself as we head into the new year 🐴🫶

What if you could enter the holiday season and new year feeling grounded, empowered, and fiercely connected to what matters most?

The key is in helping your body to feel safe embodying your boundaries, and I’m excited to share that my virtual workshop on exactly that theme is now available on the @brooklynmindbody online platform (link is in my bio! It is pre-recorded so you can take it on your own time 💪✨)

I’m more than a little obsessed with supporting folks to come into their fullest expression & power, and this workshop was born out of many years of studying exactly what it takes to stand fully rooted in ourselves — because it’s not an intellectual process, it all happens in the body.

DM me with any questions!

One of my mentors often quotes Rudolf Steiner saying “there is war outside because there is war inside.” I couldn’t agree more. The violence, hate, division, projection, & suppression of truth that we see in the world exists only to the degree that all of it is running rampant inside each of us.

So please be tender with all of you, even the parts you sometimes hate. Notice what vulnerability is hiding out just below your anger and reactivity. Maybe place a hand on your heart and breathe into what hurts.

May we all continue to grow our capacity to be with our pain before inflicting it on others, to love ourselves enough that we are no longer fighting an internal battle, but live more & more in a state of abiding peace.

Found a little something I wrote back in 2018. Still so relevant. The world needs us rested & filled up. I hope you’re letting yourself linger in the long afternoon light ❤️

Today I’m 40 years old. There’s something about this moment that feels like a profound rite of passage. So many illusions of how I once thought life was organized have fallen away; so many old identities have shed themselves like cloaks that no longer fit. As I sit at the threshold of this new decade, something new and not quite defined is beckoning. It is QUIET.

The last few years have taken me down & under more times than I can count, and not for nothing…I now have the deepest appreciation for life on life’s terms, and I know now in my bones that something beyond my comprehension is gifting all of us the exact experiences we need to live out our purpose. It’s incredibly humbling to realize the limits of willpower and our attempts at control. I’m glimpsing the wide open space on the other side of striving.

As the Buddhists say, attachment is the root of all suffering. What a gorgeous journey it is to learn to let go, to let be, to appreciate the wild & mysterious twists & turns of life, the way we’ll all be dropped to our knees with both devastating loss & unimaginable blessings.

There is a place where the battle with life and with yourself ends, where surrender feels like power and not weakness, where nothing needs to be fixed and the ecstasy of being alive wraps itself around whatever each moment brings.

Thank you for being here ❤️
