Honours Grad Show “Fragmentary”. Stepping away from why I paint certain themes and into HOW I paint them. Behind the scenes of these 7 pieces there are many discarded works, ideas and a giant learning curve. Honours often felt like a strange limbo between student and professional, but the growth was immeasurable and I’m grateful to have partaken.
2025…. Pregnant pretty much my entire honours degree March-December. Tough to say the least, but I knew I had to do it and I’m so glad I did. From gagging at the smell of other student’s cup ramen, to falling asleep at the library computers, to swollen feet from standing and painting, my baby was with me the entire time- basically her degree too!
And I met the most amazing people this year, our lovely 25’ cohort were supportive, critical in the best way and great companions for the hard yards that is honours. We shared snacks, wisdoms, tears and rants. Lifelong friendships for sure ❤️
And endless thanks to our lecturer, convener and my supervisor @nattywhos! Thank you for: taking me on last minute, translating my scrambled egg thoughts, patiently waiting for me to figure out what I was trying to convey, talking about babies & most of all being a strong woman who is a mother, artist and academic. You really prove that it can be done and that as women we don’t have to give up one part of our lives to have another. Deepest gratitudes 🫶🏻

#BSAF2024 Artist Moochual 🌟
@harmonyramodeart is an indigenous woman from kamilaroi land in Pilliga, NSW 💥
Moochual doesn’t shy away from the political topics that are the underlying foundations for our lives. Moochual uses bold colour, thick outlines & abstract scenes to recreate a “mutual” feeling between the captured and reality. Moochual’s intention is for the viewer to place themselves within the piece, resonate and hopefully create change.
📍 This mural can be found at @superordinarybne, 175 MacArthur Avenue, Hamilton

☕️ cafe comission for the most extra person I know 🤴🏾
But forreal, if you’re in underwood PLZ check out @__ugh.coffee for the most delicious coffee everrrr 🤤& grab some Filipino snacks from the pantry store!
👩🏻🎨In this bright piece I used the tension between chaos and nostalgia to mimic those ‘cafe moments’. Whether it’s catch ups, last minute essays, reflecting or even just work- it seems mundane, but in hindsight these moments carry great significance.💭

MURAL UPDATE 👩🏻🎨 Thankyou to @bsafest & @superordinarybne for helping my concept become a reality! This mural was so much fun but also has a serious undertone, raising awareness for the #fracking of my land in the #pilligaforest 🌳⛽️
