Some conversations are necessary.
Some voices are transformative.
And some people dedicate their lives to making others feel seen, understood, and emotionally safe.

I’m deeply honored to announce the next guest on the Harmony of Minds Podcast @prof_etheldreda 🎙️🌻

Prof. Etheldreda is not only one of Uganda’s leading psychiatrists and mental health researchers, but also a global voice in culturally sensitive psychotherapy and mental health care for people living with HIV. Her work has transformed conversations around depression recovery, stigma, emotional healing, and community-based mental health support in Africa.

Through her groundbreaking Group Support Psychotherapy (GSP) model, she has shown that healing goes beyond medication and that culturally appropriate emotional support can dramatically improve both mental health outcomes and HIV treatment adherence.

Her contributions have earned international recognition including:
✨ BBC 100 Women 2020
✨ Elsevier Foundation Award for Early Career Women Scientists
✨ Presidential National Independence Medal of Honor
✨ Recognition for her innovations in global mental health and psychotherapy research.

But beyond the accolades, what stands out most is her commitment to creating mental health solutions that are deeply human, accessible, and rooted in African realities.

In this episode, we’ll be diving into:
🧠 Depression recovery
🧠 HIV & mental health
🧠 Burnout and emotional exhaustion
🧠 Psychotherapy and stigma
🧠 The psychology of healing
🧠 Why some people heal while others continue struggling silently

This is more than a podcast episode. It is a conversation about emotional survival, human connection, and what healing truly looks like beyond simply “coping.”

Harmony of Minds Podcast is back and we’re returning with conversations that matter. 🤍

HEYYY GUYSSS 😭✨
Harmony of Minds Podcast is officially BACKKKK!!! 🎙️🧠💛

And this time? We’re coming back even MORE intentional, more honest, more healing, and definitely deeper than before.

Over the past few years, I’ve realized something… so many people are silently carrying things they don’t even know how to talk about. Burnout. Emotional exhaustion. Anxiety. Survival mode. Identity loss. Silence. And yet somehow we’re all still expected to keep functioning like everything is okay.

That’s why Harmony of Minds exists. 🌻
To create conversations that make people feel seen. Heard. Human. Less alone.

And honestlyyyy… we could not ask for a more powerful guest to begin this new chapter with than @gerry_opoka from @soulfoundationu
If you’ve seen her work, then you already know this conversation is about to be LIFE-GIVING. From dance as healing, to emotional wellness, burnout, women choosing themselves, community healing, movement as medicine, and breaking the silence around mental health… whewww 😭👏🏾

Really excited for this conversation.

So yes… grab your journals, your tea, your friends, your tissues 😭 because Harmony of Minds is back and we are going THERE.

Episode will be aired live tomorrow 13th May @2026.🎙️✨

There’s something powerful happening across the worldand it’s time we talk about it with the excitement it deserves.
Art is no longer being seen as “just expression.” It is being recognized as healing. As therapy. As a tool for transformation.

In countries across the globe, creative arts are stepping into spaces once reserved only for clinical interventions and they are changing lives.

Take the United Kingdom, for example. As early as 2018, the UK formally began integrating social prescribing into its healthcare system, where doctors can prescribe art, music, dance, and storytelling as part of treatment for mental health challenges.

Then there’s the United States, where the National Endowment for the Arts has consistently funded arts-in-health programs, and by 2020, creative arts therapies were widely recognized in trauma recovery, especially for veterans and communities affected by crisis.

In Australia, art therapy has been officially recognized and regulated, with increasing integration into mental health care systems, especially from 2019 onwards, supporting both indigenous healing practices and modern therapeutic approaches.

And in Canada, hospitals and community programs have embraced art as medicine, with initiatives like “Arts in Health” gaining traction around 2017, emphasizing emotional healing, patient recovery, and community well-being.

Even closer home, in parts of South Africa, creative arts have been used in trauma-informed care, particularly in post-apartheid healing spaces and youth mental health programs, growing significantly over the past decade.

✨ This is not a trend.
✨ This is a shift.
✨ This is a remembering.

A remembering that before there were textbooks, there were songs.
Before diagnosis, there was storytelling.
Before clinical language, there was expression.

And now the world is catching up.

As an artist, this excites me deeply because it affirms something many of us have always known:

Art doesn’t just entertain. It restores. It reconnects. It heals.

So to every creative out there wondering if their voice matters
This is your confirmation.

Your art is not extra.
Your art is essential.

“Creativity becomes transformation.”

This foreword by our Creative Director @emmanuelbyaruhanga captures the heart of Art for Social Engagement, a journey rooted in purpose, courage, and community.

In Uganda, mental health is often left unspoken. Yet through this exhibition, we are choosing a different path, one where stories are seen, voices are heard, and healing becomes possible through creativity.

Every painting, every poem, every performance in this space is a reflection of bravery. A reminder that art is not just for admiration it is a tool for dialogue, empathy, and change.

We are deeply grateful
To the artists who trusted us with their stories.
To the partners and supporters who believed in this vision.
To the team that worked tirelessly to bring every detail to life.

This is what happens when creativity meets purpose.

Now, we invite you to be part of it.
Whether you are an artist, a collaborator, or someone passionate about mental health and social impact there is space for you in this movement.

Let’s continue building a society that values not just art, but the wellbeing of every individual.

Join us. Engage with us. Grow with us.

You don’t have to wait until you’re breaking to deserve healing.

Therapy is not just for when life falls apart.
It’s for when you feel stuck.
When your thoughts are too loud.
When your creativity feels blocked.
When you’re tired of carrying everything alone.

It’s a space where you can be honest… without judgment.
A space to understand yourself, not fix yourself.
A space to breathe, process, and begin again.

In a world that constantly tells us to “be strong,”
therapy gently reminds us…
you don’t have to do this alone.

Choosing therapy is not weakness.
It’s self-awareness.
It’s courage.
It’s healing.

If you’ve been thinking about it…
maybe this is your sign to start. 🤍

🎵 Art is more than entertainment it’s therapy.

In a world that moves fast, many of us carry unseen stress, trauma, or anxiety. Spoken word or poetry has a unique power: it can soothe, inspire, and help us process emotions.

On a recent episode of Harmony of Minds, we explored how artists, including Mitch Isabirye, use creative expression and poetry as tools for healing.

🎶 Key insights:

poetry helps articulate emotions we can’t always put into words.

Performing or listening can create a sense of connection and relief.

Creative outlets like storytelling support mental wellbeing, resilience, and self-awareness. thers also community.

Whether you’re a creator or a consumer, poetry has the power to transform your mental state.

💬 Question for you: What spoken word piece or sound has ever helped you through a difficult time?

This is more than an exhibition. It is a sanctuary.

At the core of Art for Social Engagement is a story raw, honest, and deeply human.

A message from our founder, Kobusinge Jackline, reminds us why this work exists in the first place.

What started as personal pain became purpose.
What was once silence became expression.
What felt like isolation became community.

Harmony of Minds was not built from theory; it was born from lived experience. From moments where mental health struggles went unseen, unnamed, and unsupported. And through that journey came a powerful realization:

Creativity is not a luxury. It is a lifeline.
Art for Social Engagement stands as a response to that truth.
A space where:
• Pain is not hidden, but transformed
• Stories are not silenced, but shared
• Art is not just displayed, but felt

In Uganda and across many communities, mental health is still surrounded by stigma and silence. This exhibition challenges that. It creates room for conversations that are often avoided, and reminds us that **healing is possible, and no one is alone**.

To the artists thank you for your courage.
To our partners and supporters thank you for believing.
To every person who has engaged with this work thank you for showing up.

Now we invite you to be part of this movement.

If you are an artist, a partner, a storyteller, or someone who believes in the power of creativity to heal and connect, here is space for you here.

Let’s continue building spaces where art becomes medicine, and where communities can move from silence to understanding.

If you think mental health is a myth, think again.

Behind the laughter, there is often pain.
Behind the performance, there is pressure.
Behind the “I’m okay,” there is sometimes a silent struggle.

In the creative industry, many are expected to always show up, always deliver, always be on… even when they’re breaking inside.

We celebrate the art, but forget the artist.
We applaud the talent, but ignore the toll.

Mental health is not a myth.
It is real. It is present. It is urgent.

And the cost of ignoring it?
Burnout. Broken relationships. Depression. Silence.

It’s time we change the narrative:
✨ From stigma to support
✨ From silence to safe spaces
✨ From surviving to healing

Because when we take care of the minds behind the creativity, we protect the very thing that moves, heals, and transforms our communities. extract from the @longformpodcast and @patrick_salvado

🎙️ The biggest myth in the creative industry

We’ve been told that talent is everything. That if you’re gifted enough, success will follow. But in a recent conversation on Harmony of Minds, @isabirye_mitch challenged that idea:

“Talent alone contributes like 10% of being an artist.” That shifts everything.
Because the reality is talent is just the starting point.
The rest is built on:
• Consistency
• Positioning
• Networks
• Timing
• Opportunity
This doesn’t only apply to artists.

It applies to entrepreneurs, leaders, and anyone building something meaningful.
Talent may open the door.
But strategy, discipline, and resilience are what keep you in the room.

And often, those are the parts no one sees.

💬 What do you think matters more than talent in today’s world?

Meet Our Curator

At the heart of Art for Social Engagement* is a powerful voice guiding the narrative, shaping the experience, and holding space for stories that matter.

We are proud to introduce our curator, @RogersNjawuzi a creative and storyteller whose work reminds us that art is not just seen, it is felt, lived, and shared.

In his words:
“Art can do what words and policies alone cannot: it invites empathy, sparks conversation, and reminds us that healing is possible.”

Through his vision, last year’s exhibition became more than a display of artwork; it became a dialogue on mental health, a safe space for expression, and a journey from struggle to healing.

We extend our deepest gratitude:
To the artists for your courage and honesty.
To our partners and sponsors for believing in this vision.
To our audience for showing up, listening, and engaging.

Because of you, we continue to break the silence, challenge stigma, and build a community where creativity meets care.

Now, we look ahead.

We invite curators, artists, organizations, and changemakers to be part of the next chapter of this movement.

✨ Collaborate with us
✨ Partner with us
✨ Create with us

Let’s continue using art to open conversations, inspire empathy, and shape a future where mental health is understood, supported, and prioritized.
