Throwback to 2 weeks ago at my favourite lil sweaty club @theglovethatfits , one of the most unique nights I’ve ever played. With a crowd mostly from HK and China, mixed with some local regulars, I had the opportunity to explore sounds that felt close to home, sounds this crowd could connect to.

I’ve always wondered: what even is the sound of my home island, Taiwan? Taiwan has a pretty layered music history. A lot was silenced during colonial times and the White Terror, and it’s only relatively recently that music has been able to grow freely. To me, it never really disappeared, it lives in everything: temple chants and drums, ritual ceremonies, indigenous voices, old folk melodies, 90s HK movie soundtracks, nostalgic mandopop from early noughties…

I tried to bring a bit of all that into this set, all tracks coming from incredible producers across Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. Big love to these talented artists, I found so many gems while digging for this one. Thank you @congee_sounds @mynastage for such a special night, and all the other amazing DJs on the lineup. A ritual we do together that involves the correct codes, head torches, extra bogrolls, indoor slippers, walking boots, raincoats, bunk beds, bonfire singing and jamming, waking up to the smell of tea eggs, multiple breakfasts, faff around before the big hike, pub at the end of the hike, not enough ales, only-just enough stouts, Pete’s sprouts, putting on fancy dresses, time that rewinds in the shed, too many DJs, too many good sets, dancers who don’t leave, laughters to tears, hangover Sunday roasts, KFC on the way home…then 12-hour-long sleeps.

Mirror Moves returns to Hoxton Cabin on Friday 5th of December for its second edition, after a sold out launch back in March.

Mirror Moves is a vinyl-focused event where a wildly diverse bunch of selectors, handpicked from DJ NOYB, will get together to celebrate music, uniqueness and that tribal sense of belonging to a tight-knit community. It's going to be pretty much 2 parties in 1: starting at 18:00 on the Main Bar (this part of the event is FREE ENTRY) and then moving on in the Basement from 22:30 until the early hours.

Each DJ will offer a deep dive in their individual catalogues so expect amazingly ranging from 50's Ballroom Music, Leftfield Disco, Soulful House at the Main Bar while there will be Techno, Electro and other underground goodies in the Basement.
