@broadcastnow_mbi has just published my op-ed on the ongoing invisibility of British East and Southeast Asian creatives in UK television.
Writing it felt scary and vulnerable. But I also feel a responsibility to speak up. I have only a small amount of influence in this industry, but I believe we all have a duty to use whatever power we do have to push for change. That means paying opportunities forward, calling in those in power, and working together to build something better.
I know how tough things are right now. So many people are struggling. And when things get hard, there is often a tendency to close ranks. But I want to urge people to resist that instinct. Keep your heart open. Keep your mind open. Pull each other up. Choose collaboration and coalition over fear and scarcity.
This piece is not just about me. It is about a wider pattern of exclusion that continues unchecked. And it is a call to action.

Thanks to @danmaynard @wdment for championing this piece (and everything else I do ❤️) and Rebecca Cooney and Chris Curtis @broadcastnow_mbi for taking it on and platforming it.

Thrilled to share that I’ve been selected for @bafta Elevate 2025-2026, supported by @dunhill - a programme supporting documentary and factual filmmakers!
This year’s cohort is the first to focus exclusively on documentary and factual storytelling, with BAFTA and Asif Kapadia leading the charge to champion directors and creatives working in this space. The programme provides masterclasses, industry support, and career development to help us push our work forward at a time when nonfiction storytelling has never been more vital- or more challenging to sustain.
It means a lot to be part of this group alongside such brilliant filmmakers, and I’m looking forward to learning, growing, and continuing to tell stories that matter.

We're thrilled to share that our short film, The Cycle, has been awarded Silver at this year's Smiley Charity Film Awards!
The Cycle depicts the relentless cycle of the criminal justice system. By depicting the breaking of the cycle, the film highlights the power of a more rehabilitative approach to justice.
👏 A huge thank you to everyone who voted for and shared the campaign, as well as @media_trust for partnering with us on this project, and our brilliant Director and Producer @gydonovan.

Media Blackout in Solidarity with Gaza’s Journalists
The war on Gaza has become the deadliest conflict for journalists in history. According to the Costs of War project, more reporters have been killed there than in both World Wars, the Korean and Vietnam wars, Afghanistan and Yugoslavia combined.
Today, media outlets across more than 50 countries are joining together in a coordinated blackout of front pages, websites and broadcasts to stand with Palestinian journalists who continue reporting under unimaginable conditions, alongside @rsfinternational @if_journalists @avaaz_org.
The call is clear:
- Protect Palestinian journalists and end impunity for attacks against them
- Allow independent foreign press into Gaza
- Open safe pathways for evacuation for Palestinian journalists at risk

🎬 The Forum: East Asian Stories, British Blindspot?
Global hits like Beef, Shogun, and Squid Game show audiences around the world are craving East and Southeast Asian-led stories. Yet British TV is still trailing behind. BESEA creatives made up just 0.8% of off-screen roles last year.
Meanwhile, talent like Benedict Wong, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan, and Will Sharpe are finding success abroad. Why is the UK industry not capitalising on this moment and letting our best talent leave?
For the first time, the Edinburgh TV Festival is hosting a panel focused on East Asian representation in UK TV. Part of the Forum programme:
📅 Thursday 21 August, 12:00–13:00
📍 Sidlaw
Hosted by yours truly, with:
✨ Sarah Brocklehurst, CEO Brock Media
✨ Lachlan MacKinnon, EP Bad Wolf
✨ Ng Choon Ping, Director (Femme, What It Feels Like For A Girl)
✨ Thaddea Graham, Actor (Bad Sisters, Sex Education)
Co-developed with Christopher CF Chow. We will explore how the industry can seize the opportunity to reflect real talent and diversity. This is a reality check on relevance, risk, and reward, covering creative, cultural, and commercial perspectives.
🎟️ If you are at the festival, come join us and be part of this landmark discussion.
