Happy to announce that another of my short docs, 'Gasoline Dreams', has been officially selected for this year’s Melbourne Documentary Film Festival @mdffest

It’ll be screening on opening night — Tuesday July 7th, kicking off 8:30pm at @cinemanova in Carlton. If you’re keen to come along, tickets are available through the cinema’s website.

Huge thanks to Lindsay Wheeler and The Vintage Motorcycle Club of Victoria for their support in making the film possible, along with @yapfongyee for her assistance during the shoot, @mikkifrompreston for the audio mix and @missmaemoo for her post-production insights.

Really looking forward to another great season of films — come along and support local filmmakers.

A few frames from Episode One of a new project I’ve been working on — 'In the Making', a series of short character portraits about people and the things they create.

This one follows Gabriel Olivier Hernandez of @humanflymag_ fame who turned a simple uni assignment into something much bigger — a killer punk/rockabilly music & culture zine that became a doorway into Melbourne’s thriving underground music scene.

Genuinely loved working on this one. More to come.

Three films I watched last week that are absolutely worth your time — and where to find them…swipe right.

Pusher (1996)
Small-time dealer, bad deal, everything starts closing in. The kind of film where every decision just makes things worse. Feels scrappy and alive — you can see everything Refn goes on to do starting here.
(MUBI)

Knuckle (2011)
12 years in the making. Irish Traveller bare knuckle boxing, long-running family feuds, no real sense of resolution… just cycles repeating. Feels completely unvarnished. Hard to look away.
(YouTube)

Gorilla Story (2026)
A mountain gorilla tribe in the mountains of Rwanda, observed up close over time. Quiet, patient, and then it just sneaks up on you emotionally. Attenborough doing what he does best.
(Netflix)

That’ll be all. Thank you.

Hey Fly folks! Hope you are staying out of the heat today! Exciting news: @guywilkinsonfilms is featuring the Human Fly in his new short doco series on people who create! Can't wait to be on the screen for the first time!!! I just wrapped up a day of shooting and interviews and headed down to my favourite music joint @recordparadise to do some B-roll and deliver a copy of HUMAN FLY ISSUE #1 to my friends Paul and Renae. Thank you lovely people for helping us out and thank you Guy for the opportunity. Can't wait to share more with you weird bugs....

Guy picked up some Cramps and I picked up some Rev

I’ve started a small side series called 'Field Notes' — short visual vignettes made while travelling.

They’re not destination guides, just quiet, atmospheric observations from the road.

The first one is up now on YouTube — a brief montage of footage I shot during some wild weather on the Pacifica Coast, California.

I’m planning to publish more of these, albeit on an occasional basis as I move through different places.

That'll be all, have a great weekend-:)

Good to start the year with news that Gasoline Dreams has been selected for the Portland Motorcycle Film Festival.

I’ve always been drawn to older things — bikes, photographs, records, whatever, so it was a pleasure to tell Lindsay’s story, and his relationship with a 1949 Royal Enfield Bullet.

The film is available to watch on YouTube, if you’re interested.

Thanks to the PMFF team for the selection. On to the next project.

Edit is done and final audio mix underway. Looking forward to releasing my next short film, essentially a love letter to a 1949 Royal Enfield motorcycle later next week. More to follow…
