To our cast and crew! Y’ALL DID IT. From hunting down the last MetroCard vending machines, chasing buses and single poles, carrying that deer head everywhere, lots of R&D, and swiping galore… What started as a silly idea grew into an ambitious project that has challenged us as filmmakers in the best possible way. Thank you for all the talent, time, and energy that went into this thing - our debut short film as Scrap Metals - what an honor to have worked with all of you! ❤️

Just before the year turned, I asked @vara_kane to marry me 🥰

Thanks to my family for helping me pull it off, and thanks to the sea gulls for flying away with our french fries just as planned, and also thanks to Donte our Uber driver who said a prayer for us, and the lady who shot a whole roll of film of us running into the sunset. It was magical ✨

2023 had been the most difficult, heartbreaking year of our lives, and I’m so grateful that we were able to end it the way we did.

Last year I made a little film called LIGHTEATER.

It’s a metaphysical exploration of light featuring neon bender Thomas Wendler and the voice of James Turrell. This is a personal project born out of my mild obsession for neon - the fifth most abundant gas in the universe. An element created in stars. An inert gas that when electrified reveals itself in the form of seemingly physical light.

All neon signs are handmade. It's a special craft that involves heating and blowing glass into shape - the instrument, or vessel, is then filled with a noble gas (neon, xenon, argon, etc.). The trapped gas is then electrified to create light -- With this film I wanted to get as close as possible to the process and show it in an abstracted way.

An inert gas that when electrified reveals itself in the form of seemingly physical light.

All neon signs are handmade. It's a special craft that involves heating and blowing glass into shape - the instrument, or vessel, is then filled with a noble gas (neon, xenon, argon, etc.). The trapped gas is then electrified to create light -- With this film I wanted to get as close as possible to the process and show it in an abstracted way.

Last year I made a little film called LIGHTEATER.

It’s a metaphysical exploration of light featuring neon bender Thomas Wendler and the voice of James Turrell. This is a personal project born out of my mild obsession for neon - the fifth most abundant gas in the universe. An element created in stars. An inert gas that when electrified reveals itself in the form of seemingly physical light.
