Big News! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce that we've been awarded £220,617 from the National Lottery to support our work over the next four years!!!

This means we are firmly into the next stage of the Gregson’s story…

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone for getting the Gregson to this point. The future of this incredible community-owned asset could have looked very different after the pandemic, but because of your support, our charity has gone from strength to strength.

Now, we’ve been nationally recognised for our efforts - for your efforts in recent years and over the decades. The next step is to look towards the future, and ensure that this feel-good-story continues.

This funding is an investment into the next phase of the Gregson. It will allow us to flex and expand our staff team, engage with more volunteers, and collaborate with local organisations through a Wellbeing Programme - offering 5 groups a year support to deliver targeted work in our spaces and engage the most underrepresented people in our community.

Ultimately, the funding will support planning for the long-term environmental and financial sustainability of the Gregson’s historic Victorian building, ensuring it can continue to serve our community for generations to come.

There’s never been a more exciting time to get involved in the Gregson as we continue to develop this incredible community asset and dream big about the future. So, why not get involved?

If you have some spare time this Sunday, and fancy a bit of community spirit in the sun, please join the Working Party on Miss Whalley's Field.

The main focus of the work is to spread loads of wood chippings around fruit trees and the woodland walk. The chippings originate from green waste dumped by the traveller convoy on 8 May, which the Council agreed to chip.

Please bring tools especially spades, wheelbarrows, large bags etc & wear appropriate clothing and gloves. It's looking like a hot day so a good idea to bring plenty of water too!

Meet at the bench in the middle of the Field.

📆Sunday May 24 1-3pm (drop in anytime for as long as you can!)

Meet Cen - one of the many unsung heroes of the Gregson 🦸🚴

Cen is our volunteer treasurer and he’s cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats for the Greggie!

Over the past few years, our charity has gone from strength to strength, and our centre is now busier than ever! But our old Victorian building really needs ongoing investment and care to secure its future.

You’ve probably noticed us talking a lot about our building and that’s because protecting and securing this community-owned space for the long term is one of our biggest priorities, and absolutely essential.

We’ve already taken massive steps, with recent investments in new windows and a full time Operations Manager to lead on maintenance and building projects.

Now, the BIG step is tackling the roof…

Many people know that the Greggie needs a new roof, and after a huge amount of work behind the scenes, we’re getting closer to making that happen. We’ve begun identifying potential major national funders and drafting applications, and community support will play a huge role in helping us unlock that investment.

To help kickstart our roof fund, Cen is taking on the incredible challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats. Every donation made to this will help us prove to big funders that people on the ground give a damn about the Greggie - isn’t it incredible that members of our community keep doing such amazing things off their own back to support our charity? 🤩

We’re dreaming big for the roof and want to make sure it matches the brilliant heritage building that we share together, as well as using this opportunity to make progressive steps like installing solar panels.

Join supportive, welcoming yoga classes 🧘‍♀️

Yoga instructor Karl will take you through the session step by step, with movements demonstrated clearly so everyone can move together at a comfortable pace.

You don’t need to be flexible or experienced to join - Karl offers supportive adjustments and alternatives, helping beginners feel comfortable and confident as they begin their yoga journey.

Just bring comfortable clothing, a yoga mat (if you have one) and something to drink
