Happy #WorldWaterDay!

10 years ago, while at a small school in Nepal, we came up with a simple idea - turning rain into safe water using gravity, ensuring the students would have a safe source of drinking water, every day.

Since then, @gravitywater has seen the power rainwater can have in building water access, equality, and brighter futures. Thanks to you and all the community members who support this work, we've taken this simple idea and have brought it to over 600 communities across the Asia Pacific region, helping over 430,000 children and communities have a safe, reliable source of water from rain.

As we step into 2026, we're excited to reach new milestones, including a goal of reaching 1,000 communities by the end of the year. Though we've just hit our 10 year anniversary, our work is just getting started, and our resolve to bring safe water to every community continues to deepen.

@cloudwell.water is thrilled to be selected as one of the 8 water start-ups advancing innovative and scalable solutions to water-related challenges throughout Asia. Though Cloudwell has accomplished great impact in the public sector through its non-profit partner @gravitywater , there is still a dire need to scale rainwater harvesting as a viable intervention in private markets.

Through working with the @imagineh2o team, Cloudwell will expand its business model to new markets, including corporate value chains and public-private partnerships with government groups to deliver decentralized water treatment facilities to last-mile communities.

This will be a year of momentum, and we look forward to exploring new ways to build a water-resilient future.

Climate change is already exerting profound effects on communities worldwide. For those residing in rural and low-income areas, securing a safe and reliable water source remains a persistent challenge. According to the @adb_hq , flooding stands out as the predominant natural disaster in Asia, with projections from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change @ipcc suggesting an escalation in the risk of flooding and extreme precipitation events across the continent.

Among the dire consequences of flooding, one of the most pressing is the disruption of access to #safewater. Floodwaters often carry pollutants into traditional water sources, exacerbating the issue. For a significant portion of the global populace—1.8 billion individuals, 40% of whom live in poverty—flooding poses an immediate threat to water security and access. What measures can these communities adopt to enhance their preparedness for such events and safeguard access to this indispensable resource during times of crisis?

#RainwaterHarvesting, a straightforward yet vastly underutilized technology, has the potential to immediately address the needs of the 1.8 billion people grappling with this challenge. Gravity Water is currently working with hundreds of vulnerable communities in Asia to build water security and climate resilience and is on track to extend its innovative rainwater harvesting and treatment solutions to over 1,000 schools by the close of 2024.
