Seasons change, Spare Parts returns.

Mark Grusane is a Chicago original. One of the first DJs to weave post-punk into dance music, his sets move with a logic that’s entirely his own. He rides hypnotic, minimal jack tracks that lock you into a groove he calls “trance”, before pivoting without warning to an obscure disco gem you’ve never heard but immediately love. Which is probably why he calls his label “Disctechno”. Mark is a lifelong digger, record shop legend, and kind human being with a style unlike anyone else’s. He’s played Dekmantel, Panorama Bar, and Nowadays, so you definitely don’t want to miss him in 3 weeks at Spare Parts.

Despite what the name suggests, Grey People is 1 person. Grey People has been collecting records and DJiing for 20+ years, specializing in cohesively mixing tracks that span multiple genres and decades. In addition to DJing, Grey People has released music on a nultitude of labels as well as handling mastering duties for numerous artists and labels.

As usual, 10pm $5 at door all night etc. And thanks @waterproofworm for the incredible art as usual.

Antic is BACK at Schubas Upstairs on January 30th to satiate those winter minimal cravings. This time joined by a cast of heavy hitting selectors to bring you 4 DJs for 4 hours of all-vinyl minimal antics. We are excited to welcome @gp6669 and @tonyg.world for the second rendition of Antic at Scubas Upstairs.

Tony G is a music lover and disc jockey based in Chicago. Born and raised in Rochester, NY, he found the dancefloor in New York City in the early oughts, co-founding underground label and party machine Sorry Records and cutting his teeth DJing around the city before moving to Chicago in 2023. His enthusiasm for physical media and customer service led him to a job at Gramaphone Records shortly upon landing in the city. Tony is known for his omnivorous selections and big hearted blends, and promises to always keep you guessing while he’s at the controls.

Along with Antic mainstays QTC and Nate T, get ready to mark your calendars for 4 hours of minimal selections on January 30th. Flyer by @qtc_chicago. Tickets at the link in our bio🎟️

This month’s projects - stupidly long delay, never ending plate reverb, and a Haible Frequency Shifter that’s taken 2 years to get to, finally done.If anyone needs panels made and can supply the material, happy to help!
