Michael Goldwasser
Producer: Ziggy Stardub, Dub Side of the Moon, Radiodread, Lonely Hearts Dub, Thrillah, Goldswagger, Jason Mraz. @easystarallstars/@easystarrecords

Wonderful time catching up with friends who share a deep love for reggae, dancehall, soca, and Caribbean music in general.
Listening to veteran music journalist @patmeschino speak about interviewing artists and editing music books was truly a gift. Hearing the depth and range of Billboard writer @iamkyledenis musical knowledge was equally impressive.
And of course, having @goldswagger_ (great producer and co-owner of @easystarrecords) drop gems was the perfect touch. Inspiring all around.

This one really hurts. Third World has been one of my favorite reggae bands since I was young, and Cat was one of my favorite musicians. It’s safe to say that without the influence of Cat and Third World, I may not have pursued a career in reggae - so no Cat, no Dub Side of the Moon. I first saw TW live in 1986 and I was blown away by Cat’s guitar and cello playing. I met the band at their manager’s office in 1991 and Cat was super nice to me (as was the rest of the band) and even gave me props for the track that I pitched to them - he didn’t have to do that for an up-and-coming producer/musician like me, but he really took the time to listen. That’s the kind of person he was. We stayed in touch over the past few decades, and more importantly, Cat kept amazing me with his musicianship year after year, both live and on record. I could never repay the debt that I owe Cat for how he inspired me, but I had a small chance to chip away at it a few years ago when @rollingstone asked me to contribute to their Greatest Guitarists list - I wrote about Cat and they put him on the list above many more “famous” musicians from the world of rock. My condolences to Cat’s family, the Third World family, and to all of his friends. May his memory be a blessing.
