A lush, intoxicating gumbo of global soul, surf noir, and psychedelic funk, all filtered through a vintage, analog haze. Listening to @gitkin_music feels like stumbling across a forgotten reel-to-reel in a dusty Havana pawn shop or a smoky Marseilles speakeasy. There’s a deep sense of wanderlust baked into every groove — part spaghetti western, part Peruvian psych — with twangy guitars that slither like snakes through a desert bazaar.

New Orleans-based Brian Gitkin is a Grammy-nominated artist and producer known for his work with Cedric Burnside, Bernard Purdie, and Cyril Neville, and as the mastermind behind Pimps of Joytime. What began as a passion project has grown into a widely recognized live act, with recordings and performances centered on instrumental compositions rooted in groove, tone, and atmosphere.

Drawing from Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, North African, and Latin traditions, Gitkin’s music unfolds through hypnotic rhythms, analog textures, and cinematic pacing✨✨

Gitkin aterriza por primera vez en Barcelona el próximo 21 de mayo 🤠

Detrás de este proyecto está Brian J, músico y productor afincado entre Nueva York y Nueva Orleans, conocido por algunos como el “vaquero del funk internacional” o directamente “el profesor del groove”. Y la verdad es que cuesta describir mejor su música: Gitkin conecta rock psicodélico, funk tropical y cumbia espacial a través de una guitarra siempre en primer plano.

Estará presentando “Where The South Winds Wail”, un disco que verá la luz justo al día siguiente del concierto. Así que sí, el bolo de Barcelona servirá también como pequeña fiesta de lanzamiento.

Abrirá la noche Killing Pizarro, un proyecto de cumbia contemporánea nacido en Barcelona e impulsado por músicos latinoamericanos.
