The second Night Shifts invites you to Hamburg’s City Nord, a district envisioned in the 1970s as one of Europe’s most ambitious post-war projects. Despite its central location, this “model city of modernity” remained isolated, disconnected from the city's infrastructure.

At the Überseering bus stop, the Nachtwächterinnen will welcome you and lead you to the first stop on our event: a reading by author @lisaviktorianiederberger from her essayistic book „Dunkelheit. Ein Plädoyer.“ (Haymon, 2025), which will unfold throughout a guided walk in the shadowy corridors of City Nord. Niederberger’s work weaves together themes of power, hidden class distinctions, and patriarchal systems with issues such as nature conservation, workplace safety, the starry sky as cultural heritage, and feminist and political perspectives.

The dynamics of power, control, and their unraveling also shape @mmaaggnneeaa Liina Magnea’s performance „Ssassin’s Creed (Lady says Stop),“ which delves into the shadowy aspects of human behavior that surface when authority structures begin to erode. The performance will take place at one of City Nord’s oldest institutions, Tanzschule “die 2”.
