Wie ein Tanz von einem anderen Stern
Hoch präzise und ungemein verspielt: Mit der Formation Nancelot bricht Flötistin Nancy Meier zu neuen Ufern auf und eröffnet dem Jazz völlig neue Perspektiven. Dafür nutzt sie eine bislang ungehörte Besetzung: Vier Querflöten und ein Schlagzeug. Das Resultat auf ihrem gleichnamigen Debütalbum klingt wie ein Tanz von einem anderen Stern.
Musik kann grossartige Geschichten erzählen, gerade weil ihr die verbale Sprache fehlt. Musik eröffnet Räume und lädt zum Lustwandeln ein. Als klangliches Labyrinth lockt sie die Hörerin, den Hörer immer tiefer hinein, lässt sich Geheimnisvolles entlocken und wartet auch nach mehrmaligem Hören mit überraschenden Einzelheiten auf. «Nancelot», das erste Album der gleichnamigen Band von Jazzflötistin Nancy Meier tut genau dies. Zum einen gelingt dies der Schweizerin mit Wahlheimat Berlin, weil sie sich für ihre Band eine aussergewöhnliche Besetzung ausgedacht hat: Vier Querflöten und ein Schlagzeug – so etwas gab es zuvor noch nie. Zum anderen liegt darin eine kompositorische Herausforderung, für vier identische Instrumente eine Sprache zu entwickeln und diese dann zusätzlich mit einem Schlagzeug zu paaren.
