@fromnoee The Year of the Folly
Townsend Jacket, named after the family that owned these hair combs, that now act as interchangeable clasp for this jacket. I met Judy at her home, where she and her husband run a fountain pen repair shop. We talked for quite awhile about her grandma and her mom’s collection of hair combs and their careers as costume makers. She gave me all the combs she inherited in a shoe box.

My loveliest and most talented friend Sarah spent almost a year with me building my website and rebranding @fromnoee. She made my logo on her first try and I couldn’t believe how perfect it was. She gifted me this large NOEE key pendant after finishing the final logos. I love you Sarah!

The Year of the Folly

Both jackets are made from repurposed fur hides & old fur garments. The hair comb clasp has been passed down 3 generations from a lovely family in Ladner, BC with deep ties to early Canadian costume design. These two garments are my favourite.

Intimates Capsule
All hand sewn and beaded using high and lowbrow materials. During the time it took to make these garments, I think I went through all 7 stages of grief—the world was crying—but I also experienced extreme euphoric delusion and it shows in the materials—what I was able to afford, the effort to acquire, etc. Each bead and appliqué, an artifact, of a specific time.
