Frida Giulia Franceschini
Dance / Choreography for PHANTA
Intimacy Coordination for @mint_berlin and @intimitalia.unione
Mothering for Briefschmerz

This is somethibg I've been working on with all my heart ❤️🔥 One year ago, we had our very first credit as Intimacy Coordinators on the film "Protagonist" by Nathalie Seidl. After 12 months of activity we wrapped on our 13th production across film, television and theatre. This first year has been a ride! Learning, innovating, building safer, more consensual, and sustainable workplaces while collaborating with great teams to make beautiful scenes.. We’re proud that none of our projects required reshoots, and that performers could step into the work with clarity and agency. Some of our earliest productions are now premiering — and we can’t wait to share more soon!
Here’s to another year of growth, empowerment, and storytelling!

Today I would like to share with you all an artistic collaboration I am really in love with, the one with my friend and research partner @sophievtll
Together, we are called PHANTA.
PHANTA is an artistic duo composed of Frida Giulia Franceschini and Sophie Vitelli. Since the beginning of our collaboration in 2016, our work has mainly focused on media, performance and film. Drawing from our backgrounds in dance, theatre and music, we lustfully explore the anatomies of spectacle in late capitalist culture from our feminist perspective - a perspective also steeped in phantasmagoria and magical realism.
We’re currently immersed in creating “The Night”, a play that examines spectacle as a tool of propaganda and politics as a narrative craft. It’s a bittersweet, distinctly Italian ( but not only) story.
Here’s to many more days of PHANTA!

Procrastinating something right now?
This summer daddy Simo Vassinen and I are bringing 'Briefschmerz: addressing procrastination with BDSM' to Impulstanz, Vienna. A playful, consent-based workshop where you bring a task you’ve been avoiding — and actually get it done.
Through playful sub/dom role-play, somatic practice, and clear consent frameworks, we work on real, avoided tasks together. Somewhere between a studio, a coworking space, and a performance.
Tender, fun, and surprisingly effective.
Bring a task. We’ll take care of the rest 🪄
🗓️ Intensive 1 (18 & 19 July)

'The Night I Was Born' is solo work engaging with the nocturnal, the surreal, and the unsettling spectacle of Italian Berlusconi-era television. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, mainstream television in Italy broadcast programmes that blurred comedy, entertainment, geopolitics, crime, and news, alongside the hyper-sexualised bodies of young dancers performing captivating choreography. Designed to distract rather than inform, these formats reinforced a fusion of political power and cultural monopoly whose effects continue to resonate today.
In this solo, characters and narratives emerge from an attempt to trace how the specific languages of that televised world continue to inhabit a body over time. Like recalling a strange dream, colours fade and faces blur, while sounds, gestures, and the sharp tension between farce and unease remain vividly present.
While entertainment basks in the glare of television lights, it is in the darkness of the night that subtext, violence, desire, the subconscious, and personal histories surface.

Back by popular demand! In this workshop we explore procrastination through consensual power structures and sub/dom role-play as performative method.
How can fantasy and everyday performativity help us face the things we avoid? An unopened tax office letter. Calling your dad. Writing your will. Learning to floss.
Bring a task and props. Consider this a caring co-performative intervention into the everyday.

This research is turning out to be way more personal and grotesque that we ever imagined. It's a solo and it's about being made of flesh, watching TV in the wrong country and the weaponisation of dancing bodies.
To be continued, I swear.

”Briefschmerz: Overcoming procrastination with BDSM”⛓️ together with the sassy and talented @frigiulka
Wed 20 Nov, 19–21:30 at @fortuna_wetten Berlin under the umbrella of Social Pleasure Center
Back by popular demand! In the workshop, we solve delayed tasks in fun and caring Sub–Dom role-play scenes. Open that Finanzamt letter, or else…
Bring a task (and a look and props if you want). Last time our subs were dommed into e.g. writing their will, learning to floss, calling their mom, booking a flight, paying a phone bill. What have you been avoiding?DM for details and sign-up ❤️
The revolutionary community-run somatic casino Fortuna has been an immense source of joy, play, kinship, recovery and discovery for me in the past 3 years. I will still remember it on my death bed. Great stuff happening all week as we go out with a bang. E.g. Friday: Wheel of Fortuna gambling night & Saturday: Get Fucked with Olympia Bukkakis. Proceeds from the events go to cover last rent and bills.

“The Night” a research about storytelling and the twisted power of entertainment by me and Sophie Vitelli
Starting from the painful spectacle that was Italian television during the Berlusconi era (1989- today), The Night is a new research project that investigates the bizarre aspect of being watched for money and the chains of command on television sets.
Having grown up as female-presenting people in Italy, where the objectification of the female-read body has been blatantly instrumentalised and exploited on TV for decades, we are interested in how these representations continue to inhabit a body over time. Beyond degrading sexy choreographies that an entire nation has watched for years at dinnertime, we want to explore the
stories circulating in that world, of fictional tales and narrative discourses, about identities and their social
repercussions.
The title refers to the nocturnal realm as the ideal setting for storytelling. Night is the place where horror thrives, but also infatuation, dualistically combining dreams and nightmares, sense
and nonsense.

As a small kid, my only audience was my family. Well, if the TV was not on, of course. Now I make art that especially my family wouldn’t understand.
This portrait was taken by Dorothea Tuch @raumradaras as part of the Artist Research LAB „New Audience formation through queer cross genre performances“ by @heinrichhorwitz and @shlomimoto that took place in late August for the @fondsdarstellendekuenste. It was such an inspiring process, which confronted us with questions around who is our audience, how do we choose it, how can we diversify its formation It was truly brilliant.
