Thrilled to announce the second edition of the FOTOFILMIC BOOK PROGRAM (FBP II) set to kick off in September! Led once again by legendary photographer @gregforaday and hispublishing team Misha Kominek @kominekbooks and designer @gonzaloasanchez, the 9-month program now also includes a third gallery showing of the final book dummies in Tokyo!
Participants in this second edition FBP long form mentoring program will receive the unique opportunity to develop ready-to-pitch or self-publish book maquettes of their chosen photography projects from scratch. At the heart of FBP is the desire to offer photographers of all levels and backgrounds a practical, well structured approach to molding their best work or projects into compelling book objects. To achieve this important goal and pivotal step in any photographer’s career, we are immensely grateful to welcome back the first FBP edition’s acclaimed mentoring team centered around legendary documentary artist Greg Girard – the author of over a dozen highly regarded and collected photobooks – seconded by his long time publishing team Misha and Gonzalo who both worked on many of Greg’s celebrated books over many years (most recently “Snack Sakura”, 2025).
FBP II includes 2 intensive in-person retreats on Bowen Island at the FOTOFILMIC Space in September, and in Tokyo in March where participants will receive additional feedback on their nearly formed book projects from 3 renowned Asia-based photography editors & curators.
Complementing the physical gatherings is a robust 26-hour schedule of online individual and group meetings with all mentors to ensure steady, continuous progress through all phases of the bookmaking process.
Following the mentorship part, the final FBP II book dummies will receive ample international exposure through 3 featured gallery exhibitions over 10 months in Bowen Island (CA), Paris (FR) during the Paris Photo week, and in Tokyo (JP)
Early Bird applications open today to welcome 10 participants to this unique bookmaking mentorship opportunity! Send your information at the link in bio by May 21 to be considered first!

Last week to sign up for Lewis Chaplin’s @jointsloose 4-day photobook workshop in September with an early-bird or past attendee rebate!🚨📚✨
Instead of relying on traditional lectures, presentations, or rigid methodologies, this workshop will embrace a more hands-on, iterative approach using books as references and inspiration. By integrating conceptual discussions with practical experimentation, the goal will be to push participants beyond their usual frameworks of sequencing, storytelling, and design. Participants will be encouraged to embrace unpredictability, chance, and failure as vital elements of their creative process. As such, the workshop will offer a unique space for deep engagement with each applicant’s project, fostering an environment where critical discussion and experimentation lead to the development of a compelling body of work on the page over the course of 4 days.
Open to only 10 photographers! Learn more and secure your spot by next Sunday, May 10, at the link in bio! 👆🌟
