After an emotionally draining week in Montreal, my adorable boyfriend @jcfsierra sneaked into my apartment, clean the whole place, stock the fridge with home cook meals and left flowers. He took a bath too. I was so happily surprised. I just stood there in awe for an eternity. I am lucky.

Nelson and I are in Montreal to present The Job, our film about John Phillips’ career in the 1990s as a photographer for gay men magazines. The screening is part of the Documents: Queer Histories of Image+Nation Film Festival on Friday, November 28 at 19h at Cinéma Public (505 rue Jean-Talon E). I hope to see you in Montreal to celebrate the life of our dear friend John. @imagenationmtl

I will be showing a short documentary I made as a 20 year old undergraduate student @concordia_cinema in 1992!

Madame Simone was an icon of the Montreal nightlife. As an undergraduate student in the 90s, we made a short film together. Rest in peace Eugene

If you missed last night’s event, you can still visit the work at the Faculty Sabbatical Exhibition until December 6! Artist and filmmaker Frédéric Moffet presented three new films alongside works by Jamie Ross, Zuqiang Peng, and Amina Ross. Titled after a Billie Holiday lyric, the program explores beauty, impermanence, desire, and loss. The event was followed by a conversation with John Neff. Presented in partnership with SAIC’s Conversations at the Edge series.

Chicago! On Thursday, September 11 at 6pm at the Gene Siskel Film Center (164 N State St.), I will have the pleasure of presenting three of my films, The Magic Hedge, Goddess of Speed and the Chicago premiere of The Job, at Conversations at the Edge. My films will be in dialogue with the films of three wonderful filmmakers: Jamie Ross (research for upcoming film La Jungle), Zuqiang Peng (Sight Leak) and Amina Ross (Man’s Country). Following the screening, there will be a conversation with John Neff, Jamie Ross and the audience.

It would be lovely to see you Thursday and to share this magical evening with you.

Sinopse: Um detetive é contratado para achar a cópia original de um livro antigo perdido. O livro reconta a história de uma praga. Uma forma de radiação, desconhecida na até então, ativa um vírus. O vírus atinge as áreas sexuais e de medo do cérebro e do sistema nervoso; o medo é convertido em ondas sexuais que são reconvertidas em medo. Fever Freaks manipula e reedita planos individuais do filme de 1974 de Pier Paolo Pasolini, Arabian Nights, para ilustrar um trechodo livro de William S. Burroughs de 1981, Cities of the Red Night.

The Job will be screening in Toronto at the TIFF Lightbox on Thursday, May 29 at 9:30pm as part of the Inside Out Film Festival. The film explores the life and photo archive of my friend John Phillips. This will be a very special screening in John’s hometown. I am excited to share the film with his friends and community. @insideoutfestival
