One of the most common questions I get when people visit Tucson is: “What gravel rides should I do?”

So I finally put it all in one place.

In partnership with @visittucson, I’m excited to share my Tucson Ride Guide featuring my go to routes (with links to download!), equipment tips for the Sonoran Desert and a few favorite spots to refuel after you’re done.

Check it out by visiting the link in my bio!

Happy riding! ✌️

I love exploring Arizona’s small but vibrant towns and last week I had the chance to spend a few days training in Tubac while staying at the beautiful @tubacgolfresortandspa.

It couldn’t have been a better setup for an Unbound training block. Endless gravel roads roll right out the front door, with quiet desert miles and mountain views in every direction.

What really made the stay special though was the resort itself. The property is full of Southwest character and history, with beautiful adobe style architecture, huge cottonwoods and an atmosphere that feels peaceful the second you arrive. Knowing the resort has been part of Southern Arizona for generations gives the whole place a really unique feel that you just don’t get at a typical hotel.

After long days on the bike, coming back to great food, relaxing by the pool and even sneaking in a round of golf wasn’t a bad way to recover either!

Bentonville bound this morning for @ruleofthree.bike! ✈️

Rule of 3 was one of my first gravel races back in 2022 and it still stands out as one of my favorites. Andy puts together such a fun and rowdy course! Can’t wait to get out there for a bit of under biking! 😈

Full steam ahead… Unbound is coming! 🚂 #ad

This is my favorite training block of the year because the process is quite simple: big days of desert gravel on repeat! I’m excited to start diving into my favorite Tucson routes and mix in a little bit of exploring on some new terrain along the way! There’s nowhere better to put in the work!

These photos are all from my go to gravel option in Tucson, Reddington Road. It’s one of the best ways to experience Tucson gravel with big mountain views, quiet dirt roads and endless miles of riding right from town. Also worth noting, Reddington was recently graded and might be in the best condition I’ve ever seen, so get out and get it while the getting is good! 😉

This route and more can be found by visiting my @visittucson Guide to Gravel linked in my bio!

For the past few years, The Traka has been one of those races I’ve followed from afar, always thinking it looked a little different. A long day on gravel is one thing, but a long day with real technical terrain, extended descents and multiple sections of singletrack? That’s what pulled me in.

After finally lining up, I can say the course lived up to it. It was challenging, dynamic and honestly just a really fun way to race a bike… (with the exception of the final 60 miles, which turned into a pretty lonely fight into a headwind!)

Up front, things went about as well as I could’ve hoped early on. I made the lead group, felt composed through the first ~75 miles and tried a couple times to sneak away with a small group before the bigger climbs with the goal of getting a head start on the field, but no luck. Once we hit those, the race quickly exploded and I found myself in a strong, motivated chase group and we started reeling riders back in one by one, never giving up.

Eventually, on the last big climb with ~65 miles to go, I hit my limit and had to let that group ride on. From there, it was a long, steady push to the line just me, the course and that headwind.

20th place isn’t quite what I came for, but it’s a performance I can stand behind in a field with that much talent.

Back home in Tucson now and excited to keep building for the big one in a few weeks from now!

The face says it all ☠️

@thetraka 360 was absolutely savage! My day was a mix of highs and lows, but I’m proud of the effort and kept the fight alive all the way to the end. Stoked to have a clean run at it, learned a few things for next time and just snuck into the top 20 in the end.

A huge thanks to my support crew @nancy_arreola, @jetsebol & Miki for the help today (and all week in Girona!) 💜

More later.. time to get horizontal! 😴
