- Sí, pero yo quiero decir: ¿tú crees que si hubiera más poetas, la gente avanzaría con más seguridad por la vida?
- No, Chaparrón, para avanzar con más seguridad lo que hace falta es sincronizar los semáforos
- Estás en lo cierto... pero de cualquier manera para algo deben servir los poetas…
- Bueno, yo los utilizaría para disolver manifestaciones.
- ¿Para disolver manifestaciones?
- Sí. Chaparrón, ¿no te has fijado en cómo se desbarata una reunión en cuanto alguien se para a declamar un poema?
- Estás en lo cierto.
- Además, en esta época, ¿a quién le interesa que la luna sea blanca?
- A los del Ku Klux Klan.

- No, pero yo estoy hablando de gente, no de animales. [...] Pero de cualquier manera, tú no debes darte por vencido. Acuérdate que los poetas no son los únicos seres inútiles que existen en el mundo. También hay abogados, economistas, críticos de teatro, empresarios de boxeo; con el agravante de que el abogado te manda la cárcel, el economista te manda la bancarrota, el crítico de teatro te manda a la televisión y el empresario de boxeo te manda al manicomio, si no es que al cementerio. En cambio, los poetas a lo que más que pueden mandarte es al diccionario para que averigües qué fue lo que quisieron decir.
