Hand and eye and perception. The Graduate Center at Bard near Central Park West in New York is showing incomparable drawings by the 19th century "theorist and restorer" Viollet-le-Duc. Here an early work (1836) of the Greek Temple of Neptune at Paestum, in today's Sicily. The rigorous drawings are imbued with an additional quality, something intuitive or ambient through the zeitgeist.

Reposting from @tulanearch ~ We’re excited to bring you another lecture in our “Back Together” series! Join us on February 17th from 6-7 PM at Freeman Auditorium in the Woldenburg Art Center as we welcome TuSA alumni Alan Karchmer (A ‘78) and Robert Ivy (A ‘76) for “Chateau La Coste: Design in Words and Images.”

Alan Karchmer is an acclaimed architectural photographer whose work has been featured at the National Building Museum, and Robert Ivy is a former CEO of the American Institute of Architects and editor-in-chief of Architectural Record.

Together, they’ll share their journey documenting one of France’s most extraordinary plein-air museums of contemporary art and architecture. Through their book “Château La Coste: Art and Architecture in Provence,” they capture the site’s remarkable collection of works by architects Tadao Ando, Renzo Piano, and Jean Nouvel, alongside installations by artists Louise Bourgeois, Sean Scully, and Andy Goldsworthy, revealing how design can be powerfully communicated through both images and words.
