It’s giving: “Don’t touch the sawah. Over my dead body” vibes; my friend jokingly said to me when she saw this pic. But in all serious, I back that.

Speak up. Use your voice to advocate.

I just shot an interview with @therahayuproject & noticed in the beginning, before we started the interview, that I was really nervous to share my thoughts on Bali. A lot of my discomfort around belonging became apparent as I am Balinese & Canadian. Will I be seen as too Bule for Locals and to Local to be Bule?

I take a moment to create space so I can get out of my own way. To show up, to burn through the gossip of my own mind and become a clear voice and representative of Land, of Soul and Spirit, of my leluhur, my ancestors, of Bali. Of my role in being a bridge.

On my last breath, I remember that I am a warrior and I will fight for truth. Because I’d rather be shamed, than hold back the responsibility I know I have in my Jiwa, to being a child of Bali and having my mothers back.

For the people in the back, untuk saudara yang lupa - remember, ingat - BALI IS NOT FOR SALE. Use art as your weapon. Use your art as an access for your heart to speak where words fail and knowing emerges.

Made a lil video to raise awareness about what’s happening on this small island. Using creativity as a form of expression and education.. sharing many ideas and sadness with my sis @evakandra about the reality of what is happening and how can we help. I’m seeing this video as hope for what can come and to inspire all people to preserve this sacred land ❤️ featuring @akoiaswim and direction by @angelacsari

The past two weeks have been eye-opening, a reminder of the power of community and what can happen when people come together. With your generosity, we’ve supported 216 families, 603 individuals through urgent relief and distributions. None of this would have been possible without you. 🤍

As I step back from being on the ground, I want to highlight the people and organizations who will continue carrying this work forward: @wearekembali @jiwagarden @sungaiwatch @bumisehatbali and @ibucleoo & her family who remain on-site daily.

@wearekembali has set up a structured method of distribution to ensure families receive the right support at the right time, from basic needs, to specific requests, to long-term rebuilding. Their work is just beginning, and they will continue to be a point of reference for anyone who wants to help or follow along with the recovery efforts.

Thank you again to everyone who has donated, shared, and supported 🤍 this truly couldn’t have happened without you.

The past week has been a heavy one. Bali faced one of the worst floods in years, and many families lost their homes, belongings, and even their livelihoods.

Together with friends, we opened a donation and went on the ground to distribute your contributions. From food, mattresses, medicine, to clothes, every single item made a difference. Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared kindness in any form. The smiles and relief we saw would not have been possible without you🥹🫶🏻

But beyond immediate relief, this disaster also reminds us of a bigger issue: waste management and land conversion. Piles of trash clogging rivers, shrinking green spaces, and poor drainage are not just problems after the rain, they are root causes that turn one day of heavy rain into a disaster. If we want to prevent this from happening again, we need to take waste and spatial planning seriously.

For now, the priority is helping families recover. But moving forward, let’s also reflect on how we can reduce waste, support sustainable systems, and protect the Bali we all love🙏🏼🤍

Balinese wisdom reminds us, there is no "over there" in a watershed.

As flooding inundates the island, communities are stepping up to support eachother.

Since Sept 10, neighbors reported flood conditions on PetaBencana.id, helping guide evacuations, reroute traffic, and support first responders.

Over the past few days, we’ve been on the ground distributing your donations. Yesterday, we visited 4 areas in Denpasar that were heavily affected by the flood. Many families are now getting sick - suffering from fevers, diarrhea, skin rashes, and even foot infections. We need to take immediate action to prevent this from spreading and getting worse.

Along with distributing donations, we’re also raising awareness about waste management, because this is one of the root causes of the flood.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and helped out. So proud of this community! Together we can make a change 🤍

Ring galah sane sampun ngelintang ring makudang rahina puniki, titiang sareng tim titiang sampun sida ngemargiang wantuan sakingpare krame sane katuju majeng ring para warga sane katiban sengkala. Ritatkalene punika, titiang sareng tim rauh ring 4 titik ring Denpasar sane kasengsaraan olih bah. Lianan teken punika, akeh krama sane dados gering - kena panas, mules, gatal-gatal, tur wenten sane ngalantur infeksi ring kaki. parindikan punika mangda gelis katureksain utawi kebecikang mangda nenten nyansan parah.

lianan teken ngemargiang donasi, titiang sareng tim ngelanturang edukasi indik cara ngolah sampah, karna punika dados indik utama sane ngametuang bah.

Suksma atur titiang majeng ring semeton sami sane sampun sida ngicen donasi tur nyarengin🤍

First, thank you 🤍 to everyone who has given so generously with your donations, time, and kindness. Every effort, big or small, matters. Together, we make the difference.

This is the reality for so many families here in Bali. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, lives have been turned upside down. Homes, workplaces, and belongings washed away. Loved ones lost. And the rainy season hasn’t even fully begun. The road to recovery will take months, if not years.

My heart breaks for everyone affected. As a community, we need to keep showing up for one another, supporting, sharing, donating, educating.

I’m learning so much through this, and I will continue to do what I can within my capacity.

Thank you for being part of this with me. Love you all endlessly. 💛

Heavy rain is natural. Flooding like this is not.
It is the result of poor urban planning, weak waste management, and a lack of long-term strategy.

Governor, when you told us to “solve it ourselves” when asked about solution after TPA Suwung was closed without any alternative solution, you dismissed the very people you serve. Waste, drainage, and zoning are not problems for citizens to fix. They are your responsibility.

This is our call: Bali needs leadership. Bali needs solutions. Bali deserves better.
