But last year the average age of a female lead or co-lead in a Hollywood Top 100 film was still in her mid 30s , according to figures from@inclusionists . It was a fascinating feature to write . PYW feels particularly poignant to me and resonates this week, living in London, where Sarah Everard was murdered. It’s the story of a woman who has lost her best friend to sexual violence, and who can’t forget it. I think when the film finally gets released in the UK , so many of us will watch it with an even greater awareness and anger that women and girls do not live in a fair world. To me the root of this is the objectification of women, the constant subliminal message that our inherent value lies in our sexual attractiveness.
