This was one of the first songs me and Chris wrote as ER on our first trip up to Nashville during Covid 2020. It would soon become a Shi project that I didn’t expect to ever see the light of day.
I remember Catfish Billy coming over and laying down a verse on the song, good vibes, unbelievably talented rapper with a crazy pen. Later we turned it into somewhat of a rock track with Baylis, and then Shi did his thing. The Wolf wanted to redo his verse, even better, then I went back to redo my shit better, and then we lost the song in the Dropbox.
2023 Shi wants to drop it and make a video with the legendary @jensennoen with whom I’ve had the pleasureof working with prior, and everyone was over the moon at what a sick piece of visual art it came to be. How it sat for 3 more years is beyond me… but we’re here now, and I’m happy that ‘Paper Planes’ made it to your screen.
