South Fork Wind is the first utility-scale #offshorewind farm in the US - powering New York with clean energy, creating jobs, and helping meet growing energy demand.

Massive yet remarkably quiet, the project offered a powerful glimpse into our region’s clean energy future.

Biodiversity, preservation and protection: I’m not sure who could possibly argue with that. I’m so proud to live in Massachusetts and have Governor Healy at the helm, for so many reasons. We need leaders across this country to champion these causes. We also need to fund them—whether it’s at the state level or in towns and as individuals. It was great to meet her and hear her thoughts on all of these topics and hear her speak.

This was a great annual event called Earth Night, which celebrates the people, partnerships, and policies moving Massachusetts towards a more sustainable future.🌎

A few words on Japanese knotweed because I know a lot of people out there have it in their yards and it’s very complicated to deal with it. According to @UNHextension:

“To achieve 95%-100% control in one application, use the following guidelines:

1. Allow the knotweed to grow in the spring without doing any type of management until the first week in June;

2. Cut the knotweed at the base as close to the ground as possible during the first week of June;

3. Pile the cut stems on an impervious surface such as a tarp, plastic, pavement, etc. so they can dry out (after turning brown the stems can be composted);

4. Allow the knotweed resprout and again, do not do any management until after flowering, which usually occurs in early to mid September;

5. Just after flowering (early to mid September) an herbicide application using a 5% solution of a glyphosate based product, such as Roundup, should be applied as a foliar spray using a pump, backpack sprayer or mist blower. Apply to thoroughly wet all foliage, but not to the point of runoff. Read and follow the product label!”

I love my family and our planet. And it is top priority for me for all to be healthy and happy. Last night, I attended, "Earth Night 2026." ELM is the organization which held this event. They are advocates for many of our environmental issues. Their achievements benefit all of us. Also, I had the pleasure of meeting Governor Maura Healey. We like the same seafoods! I am thankful to have gone to this event because I know there are other human beings who love their families and our planet. Thanks to ELM and the Healey = Driscoll Administration.

Yesterday, ELM staff and partners visited the Minuteman Battery Energy Storage System in North Reading to learn more about how energy storage can help lower costs and support #gridreliability ⚡

Over 7 years, the project has saved ratepayers ~$4M by storing #electricity and deploying it during peak demand. It has worked so well that Reading Municipal Light Department has already commissioned a second, larger battery project.

The visit also highlighted the extensive safety planning behind #batterystoragesystems , including containment measures, monitoring, and close coordination with the local fire department.
