Chicago Show Announcement

Toadies are proud to support the Electrical Audio Foundation, a newly formed 501(c)(3) dedicated to preserving @electricalaudio — the legendary Chicago recording studio founded by Steve Albini.

The Electrical Audio Foundation will help carry Steve’s legacy forward by preserving the studio and supporting equity, access, creative freedom, and ownership for artists who walk through its doors and beyond.

As a band deeply influenced by Steve, and by the experience of recording The Charmer at Electrical Audio, Toadies will donate $1 from every ticket sold to our May 31 show at @thevicchicago to the Foundation.

We’ll also have a limited-edition “Recorded at Electrical Audio” shirt available at the show and online for a limited time, with proceeds benefiting the Electrical Audio Foundation.

If Steve influenced your band, or your record collection, Toadies encourage you to support the Foundation however you can.

“I knew before we went in to record the new album with Steve Albini we’d be playing together live as much as possible… Of course we knew he was going to capture the sound of what was happening in the room, so I took the opportunity to capture images as well.” — Clark Vogeler

While recording The Charmer, Clark quietly documented the sessions at Electrical Audio — one BMPCC 4K, a GoPro, tripods moved between takes, filming in the margins while the band worked fast.

“At times it was tough to balance making the record with filming the session, but the record always came first… I didn’t revisit the footage until long after Steve’s passing. It was a bit of a mindfuck to look at it again. He was always welcoming when my cameras were out… tirelessly focused on the work but also relaxed, stimulating and hilarious.”
