The film will have its theatrical release May 1st in Ireland

Directed by David Gleeson and starring Calam Lynch, India Mullen, Liam O’Brien, Elaine O’Dwyer, Niamh Cusack, Clara Crichton, Daniel Woodage, Ryan Burke and more. It’s not a film you’ll want to miss! 🎞️

David has stated his film will release in US theatres in July! This means it will be eligible for Oscar nominations, and it’s a high contender for such 🍿

HOT CROSS BUNS! What a delight to make and eat. As always, here’s the history of these delicious bites…

🌍 Pagan Origins:
The Saxons, during their spring celebrations, baked buns marked with a cross to honor Eostre, the goddess of dawn and fertility. The cross was believed to symbolize the four quarters of the moon, representing the natural cycles of the season.

😇 Christian associations:
In the 14th century, a monk made spiced buns marked with a cross for Good Friday, distributing them to the poor. These buns, known as "St. Orbin's buns," helped people remember the crucifixion of Christ

👸 In the 16th century, Queen Elizabeth I briefly banned the sale of hot cross buns, except for funerals, Christmas, and Easter. Any baker caught selling them at other times was forced to donate them to the poor
.

👩‍🍳 In 1361, Brother Thomas Rodcliffe, a Christian monk at St Albans Abbey, developed a similar recipe called an "Alban Bun" and distributed the bun to the poor on Good Friday.
