IPSO can stop this escalating war of lies against Misan Harriman. Not doing so is a failure of regulation.

This - “The Great British Crunch” - is the sum total of what British Airways gives you on a three hour flight these days. At least it comes with an ironic laugh … 😆

The Daily Mail is NOT worried about the prospect of an Andy Burnham government. NOT WORRIED AT ALL 😬😂
The Matts answer listeners’ questions including: will the smear against Misan Harriman work; what will it take to get the UK back in the EU; should the Tories defer to Reform in the Makerfield by-election; and why does Eurovision hate the UK so much?

Please listen to this piece by @editormattkelly about the smear campaign against @misanharriman It’s vicious and dangerous.
The Matts speak with Misan Harriman, the chair of Britain’s largest arts and culture institution, the Southbank Centre. Misan has been under persistent attack from much of the UK’s right wing media - all for something he didn’t say. It’s an extraordinary and ugly case study in how the press in Britain work. But, perhaps, in Misan Harriman they’ve bitten off more than they can chew.

Gutted to read that @nationaltrust has seen fit to shutter Bird How, the very spartan holiday cottage in Eskdale, Lake District, I have stayed at for a couple of decades now on and off. No real washing facilities, a treacherous drive over Hard Knott pass and a stinking chemical toilet in the cow shed beneath. It was heaven. Never encountered anyone apart from the stormy night two young lads knocked on our door at about 10pm asking which way it was to Ambleside. The answer was a five hour hike away (they had come down the wrong side of Scafell Pike) or a two hour round trip in my car, which I obliged.
The National Trust, being the high-handed sort of organisation it is, did it without any notice - along with more than 100 other holiday cottages no doubt equally beloved by NT members. Just quietly took them off their roster. The holiday cottage part of their business makes more than £3m profit but they have decided to squeeze it even more and close down less profitable cottages.
A great shame. The photo is of my eldest in a snowy 2010 visit. Happy days!
