Last year, we had the honor of executive producing this stunning short film, written and directed by Latavia Young and we made it the way the best things are made with family. One of our favorites, Diana Matos is our cinematographer, we shot on 16mm film, and the people closest to us helped bring this vision to life.
βPeelingβ is a vignette-driven short film that explores the complexities of girlhood through the eyes of 10-year-old Kendra as she develops an awareness of her vulnerabilities. Reminiscent of the off-center nature of dreams and memories, the film balances the beauty of girlhood with the trauma of disrupted youth. Despite the trials that Kendra faces, she finds solace in stolen moments with her best friend Maria and ultimately challenges her reality by vocalizing her truth
