Artist-designer Duyi Han’s practice is inspired by scenography and other forms of art that are often employed in avant-garde fashion campaigns. His first solo show in China “Visions of Bloom” explores the possibilities of openness in classical Chinese aesthetic systems. This experience combines Han’s full range of endeavors in art and design, bringing together 3D animation, vinyled walls, floor and ceiling covers, embroidered furniture, embroidery on silk, and digital renderings printed on paper in Suhe Haus’ 106 square-meter staircase-hallway space. “Visions of Bloom” is a treasure gallery breathing scholarly connoisseurship and cutting-edge biological illustrations that celebrate the splendor of life.

Nature presents itself as civilization.
I chose to use the visual framework of the Qing dynasty to present the codes and laws of nature because its aesthetic system feels so complete, accumulated, and almost redundant in its richness — like a final stage of cultural evolution shaped over long periods of time. In some way, it mirrors how microscopic molecular structures gradually assemble themselves into vast biological systems of immense complexity.
There is something both magnificent and melancholic in observing a historical civilization from a distance. Its objects, ornaments, and symbolic structures appear enigmatic, excessive, tranquil. Looking back at these works now, I increasingly feel that the Qing dynasty also carried another implication: the quiet awareness of impermanence before transformation and decay. The atmosphere feels strangely aligned with the restrained premodern melancholy in Erik Satie’s music — calm abundance before an approaching storm.
Today, humans decode the mechanisms of nature, develop artificial systems of calculation, and increasingly gain the ability to rewrite biological and computational codes alike. Amino acid sequences, machine language, symbolic systems, synthetic intelligence — they begin to mirror one another. We are no longer living in a premodern world. We are already inside another phase, where destruction and creation unfold simultaneously.

Duyi Han, Visions of Bloom

Honored to speak at the Milan Longevity Summit 2026, a global cross-disciplinary platform bringing together science, design, technology, culture, and systems thinking to explore how the structures shaping contemporary life can evolve toward more resilient futures—a vision closely connected to my own exploration of neuroaesthetics, visual culture, and the emotional architectures through which human experience is constructed.
Vision talk and curated discussion, 21 May, 14:30-15:30
At Allianz MiCo, Milan
Moderated by Carolina Nisivoccia, Participants: Giorgio Caimi, Gianluca Valsesia, Lorenzo Palmeri

“Alignment” chopsticks
Chopsticks are a global learning tool for the hand’s coordination and precision.
By introducing a single line, the design makes orientation and rotation visible. It evokes an urge to align and correct through use.
Rooted in everyday gestures, this design reflects how habits of order and coordination are formed with a Confucian cultural background, turning an unconscious tool into a quiet perceptual device.
Material: malas wood, lapis lazuli composite inlay, glaze
Limited editions of 11
Produced by Mugu Antique Ceramics Restoration Studio, Shanghai 上海慕古古陶瓷修复工作室
Exhibition at “CHOPSTOCKS 箸” Milan Design Week curated by @missyoko / @s3.site @manifestofair @cultural.associates

Today at @artbasel with @isaloniofficial @missyoko @_talenia we had an insightful conversation about collectible design. We examined its appeal and value system and explored the condition of collectibility in today’s shifting market. Preparing this conversation also has pushed me to reflect on my work from perspectives I wasn’t familiar of. 🩵

“No me miro (Claro)” restages the Asian hanging scroll through the language of striped shirting and pop color. Blue-and-white banker fabrics and soft pink cotton are spliced with flashes of magenta embroidery in Bad Bunny typography. The phrases “no me miro” (I don’t look at myself)and “por un instante sí” (for an instant yes) frame the mirror like a playful koan, while a twisting tie forms a loose, handwritten “claro”. The piece flirts with self-reflection but doesn’t get solemn; it’s a collision of prep and calm, a pop koan about style, ego, and the tiny pleasures of looking.
